while revisiting some songs i apparently listened to A LOT during 2019 i came across this one, and this is actually insane. this song is so goofy and over-the-top, but it’s through those qualities that it just CLICKS with me, and i can’t get enough of it.
this album is THE seasonal depression record. this is the calm and lowkey friend that understands what you’re dealing with while talking in a car or living room. this perfectly captures the feeling of a dull, rainy day while it’s chilly outside. even with how simple these songs can be, there’s something about them that just STICKS with me, whether that be the grooves from the beats, the melodic samples, or even just the textures of every sound that goes these songs.
i love the original version of this song, but SLAYYYTER GOES OFF ON THIS, AND THE PRODUCTION ON HER VERSE GOES SO MUCH HARDER THAN THE ORIGINAL JWEOFISKRKFKDKEJEFKJDEJRJFJ
after seeing so many negative reactions to this record, including fantano’s 2/10 review, my curiosity got the better of me and i decided to check this out, and, in all honesty, there isn’t much here that i absolutely hate or cannot stand. i can see why the vocals may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but i didn’t find them to be all that bad. in fact, i actually found multiple moments of this album to be moderately enjoyable (e.g. the opener), and i could somewhat see myself ... read more
i haven’t heard this whole thing but i’ve heard the “ride the lightning” cover, and DAVE MUSTAINE SOUNDS LIKE HE’S TRYING TO SING IT WITH A BAD TRUMP IMPERSONATION LMFAOOOOOOOOO
THE RENDITION OF THE SOLO SUCKS SO MUCH ASS. HOW DID THEY THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO PUT THAT OUT?????
this song is so annoying. the vocals on the “I’M ON FIIIIIIIYYYAAAAAAAAAA” bit are absolutely hideous and heavily contribute to why this doesn’t click with me whatsoever.
french producers with leather jackets and cigarettes are the 90’s - 2000’s equivalent of trans producers with energy drinks. this album has some of the most badass club production i’ve ever heard, AND THE BASS LINES THROUGHOUT THIS ARE SO FUCKING NUTTY. i also just can’t get enough of the chopped-up sampling throughout this record. as a matter of fact, i could probably go on for hours about how incredible the production is; it even makes “TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY” ... read more

when i say my depression makes this a 10/10, i mean that in every sense of the phrase.
around the start of this year, i realized the full extent and impact of my childhood trauma, and this caused a short period of extreme stress that eventually boiled over and became a depressive episode that wouldn’t let go until around may. during this time, i began to get into jane remover’s music, and this album resonated with EVERYTHING of ... read more
goatmeal is a BANGER, but revisiting the rest of this ep really shows that this is nowhere near LSP at their best.
EDIT:
Disc 1: 66 -> 74
Disc 2: TBA
NEW DISC 1 REVIEW:
either i was having a bad morning the day i give disc 1 a score, or just listening to some of disc 1 in the car makes it almost unlistenable. either way, some tracks i really didn’t care for have grown on me, especially “movement” as that song actually goes HARD. “on repeat” straight up sucks though because of the vocals sounding drunk and yelpy, and i genuinely find “thrills” to be a more ... read more
this song is the embodiment of sparkling leather jackets and cigarettes in daft punk’s music.
the lyrics are not good, but god damnit this song is really catchy and i hate it for that.
no, like this song is actually horrendous. the whole thing is about sex but none of it is sexy whatsoever, the synths are annoying as hell, and the vocals range from being disgustingly generic to downright unlistenable, especially with halsey straining her vocals near the end of the song. the lyrics are also so fucking garbage, and that’s all i’ll say about them because i wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. i’m only reviewing and scoring this because i was ... read more
Dreamflasher: 80
Audiostalker: 90
jane’s really on their ken carson shit with audiostalker and it goes HARD.
this record has a few of daft punk’s best songs, but for the most part it really is a mixed bag, and you can really hear that it was made in 6 weeks.
almost every part of this song has become a vocal stim for me, and therefore it’s now a 10/10 instead of a 9/10.
i’ve heard this album before, but all i remember was listening to it while my mom and grandma were getting stuff from walgreens, but i actaually have no memory of the music itself. there wasn’t a single moment i thought was catchy on first listen, and i don’t feel like relistening to it considering how forgettable it is tbh.
you know, when i was in 8th grade going into my freshman year, i thought that this was a pretty good pop album, but revisiting it has really made me realize just how cliché most of this record is, with most of it just being a bunch of relationship/breakup tunes, and how bad the lyrics can be sometimes (the “big trees, like snoop” line on gone). i like the starry and spacey production throughout this record, and i think bazzi in some moments was able to come up with really ... read more
what the fuck.
this is my first time listening to quadeca’s music, and i mostly decided to do so because i saw that it had AN AVERAGE SCORE OF 98 WITH 500+ RATINGS when it came out, which REALLY isn’t something you ever see on this website. i already knew some things about his music, like him previously being a YT rapper but having drastically evolved since that point, and i was curious what he’d have in store here considering the very positive reception IDMTHY and SCRAPYARD ... read more
