this is such a harrowing and beautiful album, and there is almost nothing i can say to truly describe it with 100% accuracy. the rawness of hayter’s vocal performances adds an indescribable amount of depth to the intense emotions, and the instrumentation and composition amplify that to another level; the incorporations of post-rock are absolutely incredible and i can’t get enough of them despite almost everything surrounding these moments being so terrifying. all i can say is that i ... read more
this EP has some decent instrumentals, but it’s not one of their most interesting projects, and definitely not one of their best. this kind of sounds like b-sides to “Fashion Week” ngl.
i used to absolutely despise this album, as i initially found it to be unfortunately annoying and headache-indusingly compressed; i say “unfortunately” because i appreciated the ideas and aesthetics, but i found it to be unlistenable due to the singing, which is something i usually don’t have a problem with in bladee’s music, as well as the mastering. however, it has drastically grown on me, and i can now actually enjoy the music while appreciating what it brings to the ... read more
this is a good song, but i do think it was a good call to not include it in the album. including it in the album may have came off as tone-deaf considering the fires in LA, and i also don’t think it would’ve really added much to the album.
😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬.
ok i’m getting this over with.
i used to be the biggest defender of cherry bomb, but A LOT of the appeal i found in this album has basically been obliterated as i’ve matured and grown out of my angst, and it is difficult to listen to it as a result. listening to this album these days feels like looking at a picture of someone when they thought they were rebellious, when the only “rebellious” thing they ever did was tell their ... read more
this album has aged as well as a fridge full of tens of gallons of milk in a store that was abandoned 20 years ago. it does have worthwhile ideas that tyler has improved on A LOT over the years, and i will give it credit for that, but that doesn’t make it a good album by any means.
SOPHIE took her amazing debut album, used it as sample material, and released a remix album that is, for the most part, is full of very fun dance/club songs, with some absolutely beautiful ambient/drone cuts in the mix. RIP SOPHIE.
i love this single so much. varg’s production is great, bladee’s performance is so good, and ecco’s performance matches perfectly with the production, and is easily one of the most unhinged things i’ve ever heard in 2024. again, this is a wonderful single, and is also another continuation of varg2tm’s amazing collaborations with drain gang.
i think this is death grips’s best EP. granted, they’ve only came out with like 4, but i still think it’s the best out of them. i would love to hear them build on these sounds more, but that may unfortunately never happen given recent news about the band.
Section 1 “My Whole Life”: 9/10
Section 2 “Blood Like Bitch”: 8/10
Section 3 “Shit Like This”: 9/10
Section 4 “Bald Head Girl” 9/10
Section 5 “Come And Go” ... read more
this EP is what i imagine death grips sounds like to people who don’t like death grips, and this certainly sounds bad. it’s just a noisy mess of mc ride shouting, zach hill’s manic drumming, and flatlander more than likely being part of the reason why it’s all as horrendously bricked out and distorted as it is. this is, by far, the worst piece of music to be associated with the band. no thank you.
how does someone make this? how does someone think of making this? how does the idea of making this even be conceived? this is such a wonderfully produced and mindblowing album that shows what SOPHIE was capable of at this time in her career, and it’s very sad knowing that she could’ve progressed so much farther if she were still here today. RIP SOPHIE.
this album has grown on me quite a bit since it first released, but it very much has its low points; i genuinely think “exhilarate” is one of the worst singles of 2024. with that said, it does have its fun and enjoyable moments, and i think it shows SOPHIE’s interest in dance/club music as best as a posthumous album could’ve done so. in addition to that, this album doesn’t really feel like it was released in order to make money off of her memory, to me, at least. ... read more
it is a lengthy album, maybe too long for its own good, but with that said i do think it’s a great conclusion to not only this trilogy, but also to tesfaye’s music career as the weeknd. the production, for the most part, is very good and pairs well with the performances and lyrics, and i think this album has some of abel’s best and most personal songwriting. i think i can say that for this entire trilogy in general. again, it’s great, and works very well as a conclusion ... read more
i make it a mission to never blindly hate on music i have never listened to, and i listened to this album to see if the user score is justified. i can safely say it absolutely is justified.
the writing, for the most part, is utter garbage and tacky, and makes a good chunk of the songs unbearable, if the generic production isn’t already doing so with tastless splashes of hip-hip and trap, that is.
the only highlight on this album for me is the song “turning out”, as the main ... read more
