"I traveled to space
Found the moon too small
And home is a pin
Rusting through a map"
There’s something really old and pagan in here that resonates beyond even music itself
This is it y'all, the platonic ideal of music.
Some of my best memories are of walking home after work late at night in the snow listening to "soon-too-be-innocent fun." Whole album is brilliant and otherworldly in the best way possible.
The album feels like Damon Albarn was trying to make a Tame Impala record, but it didn't really work. The whole thing was kinda boring and sluggish (which is impressive for an album with so many synths). Snoop Dogg's verse also sounded a little stale on Hollywood.
I only wish there were more songs... "Ooh Child" though, is a perfect song from beginning to end.
The EP is also a really nice amalgamation of the sonic themes of both parts of heaven and earth.
Albin Lee Meldau has a unique voice, but it was completely butchered by the over commercialized and flashy production on the album. Every song sounded like they were made to appear in Apple commercials... Its too bad, his NPR Tiny Desk set was pretty good.
This song came out on my 18th birthday. I listened to it for the first time after reading pitchforks review of the song. Since then, I can't even remember how many times I've listened to the song, and each time, I've continued to marvel at the powerful vocals and expressive instrumentation.
