Haven't watched the film, but I love the way Guadagnino is pushing this duo to reinvent themselves. You can tell that Reznor and Ross had a lot of fun doing this, the weird instrumentation choices are unexpected and often beautiful.
I might change the rating, I may elaborate on this more. First listen was definitely jarring, I didn't like Mike on a few songs, some melodies and drums felt too simple, Emily on Cut The Bridge sounded like she was suffocating.
Then I listened to the album on the car with loud speakers and for the most part I finally got it.
It might be the nostalgia talking, but damn. This feels like a time machine to 2003. Nowadays some of Linkin Park epic choruses don't have the same punch for me as they used to (which is totally normal), but this is a nice reminder of just how amazing it felt to listen to them for the first 10 or 20 times hahaha, and I can understand the teenager me feeling that nothing could ever sound better than Chester singing/screaming.
Me with the first track "Could this be... Rosalía's Yeezus?". But as the songs and interludes go on, I must admit it isn't. Saoko still stands as a great song, a crazy mix of genres that works surprisingly well, however the rest of the album feels too disjointed, trying different styles but without adding much more than a "Rosalía filter"
Besides, it is filled with laughable lyrics if you know Spanish and in the end Motomami comes across as bit lazy with all ... read more
I heard Follow You on the radio and ugh, what an absolute mess.
Mood: Planning a revolution in an illegal rave on some abandoned factory.
The Ocean are an ambitious band that I usually admire for what they've been able to pull off on a conceptual level, more than for the music itself. I enjoy their albums but sometimes they get too dense for my taste in metal, even when that's exactly the point because they can be talking about a journey to the deepest ocean or an ancient era on Earth.
However, on this record there are only few moments where I space out, I believe it is nicely done and one of the best offerings of the genre this ... read more
Temporary rating, because the more I listen to it the more it grows on me. I find myself listening to this late at night, while everybody sleeps, such a mood.
Funny that the year I decide to get into jazz we have this from Trent Reznor. I am unable to judge by standards of this music genre, but it doesn't sound bad at all. The dark piano and atmosphere that one would expect from Reznor-Ross appears only sometimes, and coming from Fincher I guess this style must fit the film perfectly.
How can something so "simple" still be so effective. I have listened to this to death, but it remains as sexy and cool as the first day, the falsettos, the thick bass, the progression... and apparently I am not the only one because it is by far their most played song on Spotify.
EDIT: I have been listening to this non stop, it's just banger after banger. Who cares if they are doing it for the fans, I am a fan and I am pleased. I don't strongly dislike the Amy Lee song, but it could have been better.
"It's not the end of the world. Oh, wait"
A fun EP. Not quite sure how I feel about what it means in their career, though. I feel happy for BMTH, because they are clearly having a lot of fun mixing metal and electronic music in straightforward songs, and they ... read more
Didn't expect this from Major Lazer, but I dig it. Just wish I could listen to this on a disco.
This album makes me smile often. I didn't expect to find such positive and hopeful tracks from Kanye.
Why. There are some nice moments (Pretty Boy) but overall this sounds so... irrelevant, like they don't care about what they're doing anymore.
I can't express with words how much I like this 1995 album I have just discovered, but I'll try. Sonically this is somewhere between The Fragile era Nine Inch Nails and Brand New's Science Fiction, with a great female singer. Produced by Flood (The Downward Spiral, Depeche Mode, U2), which makes A LOT of sense. Her confidence telling stories of love, anger and desire amazes me, and from the first listen it feels like it's going to be one of my favourite albums of the 90s.

With Amo they proved they could play a lot of different styles, but Parasite Eve and Obey show a more focused band, just throwing direct songs and having fun. I think I should have grown tired by now of their breakdowns, but they're so much fun, at the moment I'm too busy headbanging.
Yungblud doesn't annoy me much, his singing kind of reminds me of Bert McCraken from The Used.
FINALLY, IT IS OUT.
I watched the movie a week ago and all these days I couldn't wait to listen to the soundtrack with good headphones.
