Definitely the best album Gezebelle has put out thus far! This is the first album of hers that i have listened to, and at first, it didnt click, but i have listened to it 3 times by now, and its great! It does her sound the most justice, having the most consistent tracklist, same level of experimentation, and while blending in together is still prevalent, it is the least noticeable out of all of her albums. Atleast, all 3 ive listened to. It has the expected dumb lyrics here and there, but it ... read more
Pretty noticeable shift in quality between this album and The Fridge here! It feels a lot less abstract, despite being in a similar style, it feels a lot more straightforward, however it still sounds very reminiscent of The Fridge, with some exceptions. Overall, i feel that it does a better job of being an enjoyable experience, with the same experimental sound, i feel that this one is a much more fun listen. It still carries the problem of a lot of the tracks blending in together, but it does ... read more
Very intriguing album. Not the first album ive listened to from Gezebelle Gaburgably, however it is the earliest in her discography from what i have listened to, so i felt it was fair to rate this one first. It is very much within her style, however it does sound more dated than her next two albums that follow this one, despite not having a huge gap in releases whatsoever. Its very raw, experimental, and abstract, but a lot of it somehow blends in with one another, and it makes for an ... read more
Quite the switchup from Pinkerton! Definitely close in quality, and i like the variety the 2 projects together provide, but i prefer the vulnerability of Pinkerton over the energy of this album. Deserving of being the more iconic one for sure, it certainly has a more iconic vibe to itself. Favourite track: Say it aint so.
What a pleasant album this was! I originally had a bias against weezer, for whatever reason. But i once heard pink triangle, and that immediately changed how i felt. Ever since, this album was on my radar and eventual to do list. And im glad i listened to it when i did. While i was missing out for so long, i dont think i would enjoy it as much as i do now, had i done it a year or 2 ago, when my taste wasnt as used to it. Very moody, personal and somehow comfortable album to listen to. I came ... read more
Definitely the worst album in the trilogy for me. Both Dawn FM and After Hours feel more consistent, thought out, energetic and in other parts moody than this album is anywhere. While having some beautiful tracks, it pans out for way too long, with transitions that make the tracks blend together a bit too much. The previously mentioned albums do have transitions aswell, but they feel graceful, special, better than this album does it, i dont know what it is. It would be better than Dawn FM if it ... read more
A very worthy sequel to the After Hours. I have not had as much time to sit with this one as i have AH, but this is still great, even if i dont see it as flawless. This record feels a lot more melancholic and moody, as if that was somehow even possible. Still consistent tracklist, with some forgettable tracks imo. I dont have much to say, but i really like it. Favourite track: Less Than Zero.
Absolutely phenomenal project. Not everything clicked for me, when i first listened to it. But after sitting on the tracks, and then revisiting the album itself, wow. Incredible production throughout the whole album, hypnotising vocals from The Weeknd, consistently great tracks, easy to follow but relatable and deep theming. It is perfect to do on a late night, i highly reccomend it. No matter what i say about it wont encapsulate how much i like the album. Albeit, i think due to the sheer ... read more
The first full length album from Femtanyl, and it does not let down! In my opinion, it is their best project released. It's unbelievably consistent, with really high peaks. The only flaw is how a lot of the sound blends together with each other, however that's a common theme with their previous projects aswell. It was simply less noticeable since they were shorter, and this one is longer, so you notice it when you sit on it for a while. It's energetic, it's fun, it's ... read more
Just like their previous EP, this is a short, energetic project. It's much less consistent than chaser, however, the highs on this EP are MUCH higher than on the previous one, so it's a decent tradeoff. Still worth a listen nonetheless, it can't hurt to listen when it's short and rewarding. Favourite track: M3 N MIN3
It's such a melancholic, beautiful album. The vocals blending into the instrumentals, where you can only so vaguely figure out what's being said, leaving most to your interpretation, it feels so dreamy. Like a half lucid dream, where you subconsciously know it's a dream but can't do anything about it. The second half of the album is definitely a bit weaker than the first, but that's only because the first half starts off so strongly. Favourite track: Only ... read more
Insane progression from the project that The Melodic Blue was. In this album, Keem visibly and audibly matures tenfold from the last time we've heard of him, where even the fun tracks in this album feel more serious than in The Melodic Blue. In a good way. This album leaves no room for bloat, with every track serving a purpose to the experience, and changing the tracklist in any way would hinder the album. Removing tracks, adding more tracks, it would be a worse experience than it is right ... read more
A good project all throughout, with a few boring tracks, but none really bad. Keem fits all the beats, with not many bad performances. I dont really know what to say about this album, its good, just not the best. A good starting point for anyone interested in Baby Keem. Favourite track: If we're talking just the base album, Scars. BUT, if we are including the deluxe, Killstreaks.
Apparently, the last J Cole album, and my first listen of any project by his. While this has been a highly anticipated album for nearly a decade, I would be lying if i said i was part of that wait at all. I was never big on Cole, and am also a relatively new fan of music, so I've only really known this album was supposed to exist for about a year and a half at most. Just like some other artists, I had a bit of a bias against Cole, but decided to listen to this album regardless of that. ... read more
Sabrina has this strange effect on me when my thoughts on a first listen always get flipped on their head. With Short n Sweet, I wasnt huge on it on my first listen, however fell in love with it after a few days, constantly replaying the songs. With Mans Best Friend, I loved it on first listen, as i was anticipating the album for 2 months or so, but then it completely grew off me. And now, this applies with this album aswell. I thought it was Sabrina's worst project I've listened to, ... read more
Simply not for me. Even going into this, I had a bias against JPEG, but this album didnt make me reconsider how i feel about him or his music. The best parts of the project are Danny's verses and how he makes them catchy on beats that barely resemble music. Its not terrible, but its a bit too chaotic for me to enjoy it, it feels random and all over the place in a way that doesnt read as intentional. Favourite track: Lean Beef Patty
An incredibly pleasant surprise this album was to listen to. When i first heard of Paramore, i saw a lot of unanimous hatred towards them, and naturally, that left me with a bias. So when I saw some praise for this album, and even got suggested to do it, my intrigue was raised. When i did listen to it, my bias was flipped on its head. This is incredible. It emulates a nostalgic, energetic vibe that doesn't feel generic but rather authentic and unique. Vocal performances are incredible and ... read more
While this doesn't match the quality of big fish theory, this is still a great project by Vince. A lot chiller, and a lot of it wasn't personally for me since it blended together a lot more. But it's still definitely a worthwhile listen for sure. Production isn't as unbelievable but even then it ends up being a core part of what makes this album good. Favourite track: Étoufféé
When i first listened to this, I wasn't expecting anything, and now it's one of my personal favourites. It's great. It leaves no room for bloat, lasting only 36 minutes, making everything feel intended and polished. The production is astounding and unique, the subject matter is interesting, and the performances are great. The album is one of the most consistent I've ever listened to, and it definitely makes me interested in the rest of Vince's discography. Favourite ... read more
