There were a couple of standouts like wisdom which has a nice mix of rock and folk that I really enjoyed, burning pile, and body. Lyrically, though, that is where the album is weak.
With all do respect, can DJ Drama like stop yelling nonsense? It adds literally nothing. Other than that I really enjoyed this album a lot.
I feel like this album is still very coherent, yet each song can also be taken in independently. I enjoyed this album, my favorite song being XXX.
Very thematically dense but very coherently told. Kendrick is unlike any other lyricist I’ve ever heard. This man is one of a kind.
Honestly freaky how ahead of its time this album was. Really incredible production.
Very good and pretty coherent throughout. I was surprised by the 22 tracks going into it thinking it was going to be way too long and I do think it was, only not as drastic of a problem as I first suspected. Overall I fw this and I’m a sucker for well produced synths sooo.
As a debut, it is incredible how she was able to find such an original sound so quickly but I still don’t find that much in this album that is, quite frankly, worth my time. It’s interesting at time and honestly I don’t hate the whisper singing, but I would much rather listen to her later works. But without the context of her future works, it stands on its own fine I guess.
Favorite song: Xanny
Least Favorite: Fucking Bad Guy Jesus Christ I hate that damn song.
It’s honestly sad that we will never be able to see how Mac Miller’s sound could’ve continued to grow. He was truly an incredible artist and he has my utmost respect. When listening to this album with the context of his passing, it becomes incredibly eerie. It’s if we are able to see into his last moments and last thoughts. I feel that especially in the final song. You will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Mac Miller.
Genuinely was not expecting this to be this fucking good oml. I think I always dismissed Billie Eilish to the side too quickly and I would like to apologize because damn every song on here gave me goosebumps. Honestly a masterpiece what do you want from me.
I hate to say it but I think that this album is a bit overrated and is nowhere near a masterpiece as many people believe it is. For its time it is indeed incredibly inventive and I respect how this aBlum essentially brought a genre out from the shadows, making pop-punk more mainstream.
Really fun all the way through and with really unique takes on politics. I absolutely adore this album.
Low key glad they cut some of these from the full album. They just don’t hit as hard as Disk1.
