This album is easily AJR's best. Most of the songs do not feel like filler like half of OK Orchestra and they overall nail the Musical Hip Hop vibe. Although they do tend to overuse it at times, it's still really solid. Next Up Forever is a really strong opening, Birthday Party has a great instrumental with a really interesting bridge, 100 bad days is fine with a comically laughable "beat drop",DTOML has a really intriguing hook and mediocre lyrics, Break My face has a cool ... read more
This album is a rollercoaster when it comes to quality. Honestly, I really enjoyed Bummerland, WSV (even after tik tok ruined it), 3 O'clock things, and Christmas in June. That last one, Christmas in June is truly a standout in their discography. Instead of whining about growing up, they wrote an honestly really mature song about trying to find a life/work balance. It isn't trying to be deep. Honestly this is an album worth listening to and AJR do not deserve the aggresive hate they ... read more
I have a complicated relationship with this band. During COVID I was obsessed with them. Their interesting musical elements mixed with hip-hop/pop left me amazed. I never loved them because of their lyrics and that still stands here, but something about their sound makes me feel things. I can't quite describe it. I almost wish they made purely instrumental pieces (I know this is an unpopular opinion) but they are quite good at producing. Yes, they overuse strings, and yes it gets very ... read more
Very repetitive. Eminem's age truly shows through with this one. "Gen-z me bruh" made me spit out my drink.
Surprisingly good. I was expecting a bland radio-pop Taylor Swift-type sound but was pleasantly surprised. Olivia Rodrigo has seemed to found her footing with GUTS and I'm all here for it. The punk-rock vibes are beautiful.
About halfway through I begin to lose interest in this album but Goner pulls me right back in.
This is what Scaled and Icy should've been smh. Overall really great and you can hear the obvious inspiration from their other albums such as Oldies Station having a prominent vessel sound and Risk Of Feeling Dumb feels ripped directly out of Blurryface. Man, these guys are so good.
A little bit dated, but if you ignore that it's some of Twenty One Pilot's best work. The weakest song is probably Run and Go.
Wow this is such an underwhelming followup to Trench. The middle part of this album feels like radio pop filler. Redecorate almost makes this whole album worth it though.
Holy shit. Literally no skips. The tone is perfect and you can tell they went all out here.
Pretty interesting stuff here but it didn't quite hook me as much as I wish it did.
