This is my first time ever listening to a solo Hayley Williams project and I have to say I'm impressed. At times the record felt very "Twenty One Pilots meets Billie Eilish" and the sounds blend perfectly. The album opens up with "Ice In My OJ", a punch track featuring distorted screamy backing vocals that really set the tone for the whole album. Hayley is known for her beautiful vocals and nothing changes here.

Perhaps this is the kind of album you have to listen to a few times to really get it, but from a first listen I'm fairly disappointed...
I want into this record with no prior knowledge of JPEGMAFIA, but high hopes from it's position in the top of 2024 here, and boy was I impressed. There is not 1 song on this album that you can't vibe to, and after reading briefly about his story and learning that he does everything himself from writing to record to mixing and mastering, I am so much more impressed. JPEGMAFIA is definitely on my radar going forward!
Linkin parks return is more than welcome, and what a song to introduce the new singer with. Watching the livestream was incredible the way the song starts with mike and viewers are still not sure whether there's a new band member or not, and out of nowhere Emily comes in with those amazing vocals. I have very very high hopes for the future of linkin park and their new sound!
To put it simply, BALLADS 1 is a ✨ m a s t e r p i e c e ✨
This record sound very similar to Joji's debut EP "In Tongues", but this time around much higher quality and much more matured. He created his sound with the last record, and with this one he mastered it. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer, but quality over quantity I guess...
For his debut EP, In Tongues does a great job of showcasing Joji's talent and setting up his sound for future projects. It feels like an alternate take on the Lo-Fi genre, creating an incredibly chill vibe, with soft vocals over the top. It's even better knowing that he was Pink Guy before taking on the Joji persona, and it is incredible to see him finally put his talent to real use rather than using it for memes.
Scaled and Icy is a definite step back from Twenty One Pilots, with the entire sound being completely foreign, it's very easy to see why a lot of fans see this as the worst album. By no means do I personally think the album is bad per-se, the production on some of the songs (thanks to Paul Meany, the mastermind behind Trench) is absolutely incredible, but as a huge fan of the band, it was a disappointment to say the least.
It's very easy to say the album is "bad because of the ... read more
Clancy is arguably one of the best records from Twenty One Pilots, with the return of their "rockier" sound being very welcome after their poppy album Scaled and Icy. The album displays a diverse range of different sounds and covers some very heavy topics, with addiction being very prevalent this time around. A lot of these songs have been stuck in my head on repeat since release, namely Routines in the Night and Lavish.
My biggest complaint is that lore wise the album definitely ... read more
This album feels so rushed and incomplete, with only 4 tracks actually being new and the singles included dating back to 2019's titular "Popular Monster." I entered this album with high hopes, loving every one of the singles released prior but it really feels like they decided one night to take their latest singles, add a bunch of throwaways and call it an album... Incredibly disappointing...
Instrumentally this song is actually pretty good and will definitely be super popular in clubs. That said, I'm not exactly a huge fan of the lyrics, they're not particularly creative and just sound a little bit generic. I'm not keen on how overly sexualised mainstream music has become, not that it hasnt always been to an extent but at least before it had some "class" rather than going into details. Again, perfect for a club setting, but if this came on the radio ... read more
This eagerly anticipated record from Bring Me The Horizon is absolutely perfect and far exceeded anybodies expectations. They really perfected their sound, with this album sounding like an amazing blend of their heavy-metal album "Sempiternal" and their lucid sounding project "Music To Dance To", not to forget the clear hyper-pop infuce. It's a beautiful blend and they have truly carved themselves a whole new genre.
Biffy Clyro have a very distinct sound that really shows in this album. Tracks like Bubbles really show they're not afraid to experiment and other tracks like Many of Horror and "God & Satan" show their range, going from punchy guitar riffs to emotional ballads.
My biggest complaint with this album is a few of the tracks sound a little generic (although don't any after so many listens), songs like Mountains and The Captain are usually an easy(ish) skip for me. By no ... read more
