Enough teasing around, lets once again talk about unheilig!
I still listen to their 2000s output. Its some of the most interesting takes on the ndh genre since oomphs ego, trading the aggressive riffs for gothic synthwork and it creates a unique atmosphere. not to mention der graf is an incredibly good lyricist and unlike other ndh singers actually has a more warm voice to him. there was an amazing foundation there....and then große freiheit happened.
if you are not in germany you wont ... read more
Grendel is a one album wonder honestly. I find most of their other stuff not so interesting and they never contributed to much in the aggrotech genre however 2007s harsh Generation is considered a legendary album in the Genre and honestly rightfully so
This album is short for an aggrotech Environment where albums average around 50 minutes and honestly? It shows that its better this way. The album consists of 8 songs and all of them get their time to shine in their own way
Also around 2007 ... read more
Recommended by @Minghas once again.
AWWWWW YEEEEEE
This is a good ass recommendation because i actually really like dope. Finding out that aoty doesnt really like him saddens me cause hes basically what if manson was fun and not an abuser. Its one of the best bands to make a hybrid of Nu-Metal and real Industrial Metal and while its cheesy as hell, these are the perfect genres to be cheesy with. Its no surprise that Edsel was called up to become Xer0 as hes a very fun and infectious frontman ... read more
Well, NDH is back on the menu!
Stahlmann is a band that always seemed to copy NDH trends but just about stood out with pretty decent production choices and personality driven vocals. When it comes to the ndh genre there is always the big elephant in the room with rammstein and while i made a cut with that band that doesnt mean the whole genre is dead to me, far from it.
I in fact think that at their best stahlmann has improved upon their peers with a signature sound that isnt being completly ... read more
In so serious guys, if you enjoy even a shred of what a band like motionless in white is doing YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS BAND OUT they are so damn consistent and i love them, they are pretty much my favorite newcomer band right now
This feels like president doesnt even wanna make a good song and NEEDS to keep an obnoxious part in their music.
Like why are we taking 1 step forward and 5 steps back here? Yea we got rid of the autotune FINALLY but wtf does it do if the sound is still produced to fuck with dogshit synths, the trap beats are maximum obnoxious with mr president charlie rapping like hes ready for his 2019 soundcloud career in the verses and the somewhat heavy parts feel uncanny as if they were only there to ... read more
Once more recommended by @Minghas
This is a little B-Side they released and you can absolutely tell how the original songs are leftovers off Antigone as they have the stylistic direction of that album but feel....unfinished in their execution. Beyond beautiful feels like its missing its guitar parts and begs for a brooding Riff and October 29s lyrics are...repetitive to say the least. Shockingly compared to how Minghas feels about it i actually think the 2 best things to come out of this ep ... read more
Hi guys, so ive been still recovering but definetly on my way to getting better
Anyways, @Minghas has brought me quite the interesting recommendation, a metal album that taps into genres im not quite versed in.
The Metal Genres im comfortable with are the usual suspects: Metalcore, Nu-Metal, Alt Metal, Symphonic Metal and im just not dabbling into Deathcore more, this album seems to be closest to symphonic or power metal but definetly isnt quite in that field either. I dont think i ever ... read more
Hi im (somewhat) back, was in the hospital had to recover and shit but i think i can tap my toes on reviewing a little again.
So hi knocked loose, interesting collab you got there!
Look we know knocked loose delivers, their instrumentation and production is some of the most consistent metalcore has right now and on that front, you get your spongebobcore on a silver platter each and every time.
Now what about denzel curry and how hes implemented here?
Around the first half there was a little ... read more
Damn halloween must be early with both motionless in white and dark divine releasing
While still being a worse moving on, its still a good alt metal piece, anthony martinez is such an underrated voice in metal honestly and he carries this song to the finish line. My biggest pet peeve showed up but it was short enough to not annoying me too much
Its really an incredible song. its like 570 part 2 but they get to really find a perfect hybrid between their old and new eras. one of their best breakdowns in a long while on here as well and chris is vocally absolutely on his a-game
And now we go from their worst recieved to their best recieved and damn yall are actually right on this one.
If i had a nickel for every return to form amvcore album coming out in 2015 id have 2 nickels which isnt a lot but im glad it happened twice.
Of beauty and rage is reds sound pretty much perfected, they basically took the blueprint of what worked for them in end of silence and created an album veeery much fitting of the title cause yea this is made of beauty and rage alright.
The ... read more
Huh. This is the worst red album thus far by process of Elimination but its still a good album?
I guess the lack of symphonic elements makes it seem different but as someone who likes a Song like the outside you can hardly see me complain and it also has some of reds heaviest and edgiest songs yet like this opener, aint that a way to pump up the listener early on. Even a Song like damage thats lowly rated i can honestly enjoy, yea it has edgy writing but this was kinda always there with red, ... read more
Not only do we get a reimagining of 2000s alt metal but mixed by cervini from evanescence but also breaking benjamin and while this isnt as good as afterlife its another case of "this artist plays to their strengths and satisfies the people they need to" and im glad for that. Also one of the better breakdown of this band as well on here.
Okay so here we are, the last album of breaking benjamin thus far(i will not talk about aurora).
Also 300th review yaaay!
The way it started had me so incredibly hyped you dont understand. I believe feed the wolf is actually top 3 best breaking benjamin songs oat, we dont talk about this song enough. The high note ben hits is genuinely peak and makes for a perfect climax, this is one of the best alt metal choruses ever im so serious. Naturally i looked up how amvcore this song is and there is ... read more
This is another one people consider to be one of breaking benjamins best and i definetly do get it. Its another really consistent record, has breaking benjamins best ballad and honestly feels the most emotional. They pretty mich picked up where they left off, in fact this album feels somewhat like a we are not alone part 2, in its emotional moments, its lyricism and even more impactful moments, only thing id say its a bit more polished, but actually not too much (well get to that). It also even ... read more
So breaking benjamins debut ive been hearing a lot of mixed things and it seems the aoty community agrees here.
My perception of this record is that breaking benjamin was still searching for their footing so they took creed and nu-metal as their Inspiration and the opener is essentially that. The song has a pretty good riff but god does ben force and scott stapp impression which i think is a little unfortunate cause he really doesnt need to Sound exactly like him. Thankfully this isnt in every ... read more
I think the worst part about this album is there isnt much to talk about.
Its an alt metal album with traces of negative spaces all over this thing and i guess that makes poppy a definitive figure in the metal community and not someone whos only somewhat in it. The album is also frontloaded as hell and the songs from eat the hate onward are really mid (also eat the hate itself feels very unfinished). Highlights would probably be the closer and dying to forget as they do things reminiscent of ... read more
The more i listen to these guys now the more i deeply regret not getting into them sooner oh my god.
Breaking Benjamin have now pretty much come to their own on dear agony, you could argue they did before but now with THIS consistency and thats what makes it their best album thus far. Yes it doesnt have the heights of the other 2 i looked at, crawl might be the closest in that regard but in this album they seem to have fully understood that makes them work and decided that they slot in ... read more
Ive spent the new year essentially only on amvcore, a genre I made up and ill take this review to explain what i would describe amvcore. You remember those old school anime music videos from the late 2000s/early 2010s? The music used was often alternative metal, especially in epic fights and thats basically the blueprint. If you wanna figure out if a Song is amvcore just try to picture your favorite anime fight to this and figure out how well it fits.
And yea we all know breaking benjamin is ... read more
