Periphery - A Pale White Dot

I think that regardless of how simplified Periphery came out here, it's worth noting that this album is still 47 minutes of good Periphery, they didn't change at all their sound and rather sucessfully condensed what they're good at under conventional structures, which is already kind of an achievent considering how often Prog bands dumb down their sound but extract the cool shit that made them special.

I think the prospect of Charli doing any form of rock was way cooler on paper than in execution. I was NOT expecting Raditude-era Weezer from her.

At face value, sure, you're ... read more

From Ashes To New - Reflections

From Ashes To New is a band I like from time to time, and that being just out of the value of me particularly liking their vocalists and finding the Linkin-Park-but-the-rapper-is-NF style kind of endearing, admittedly results may vary but overall when a song of theirs works it just works, I still wish they pushed their sound a bit further because they can, but in terms of Octane-core this is OK-ish.

While it may be almost insignificant to the overall narrative, there are a few things that are ... read more
