I think that regardless of how simplified Periphery came out here, it's worth noting that this album is still 47 minutes of good Periphery, they didn't change at all their sound and rather sucessfully condensed what they're good at under conventional structures, which is already kind of an achievent considering how often Prog bands dumb down their sound but extract the cool shit that made them special.

I think the prospect of Charli doing any form of rock was way cooler on paper than in execution. I was NOT expecting Raditude-era Weezer from her.
If I didn't know English, this would be a 9 because the Metal is awesome.
But unfortunately, I do, so it goes all the way down to a 7. It's okay to be edgy and stuff, but I think the lyrics are a bit excessive. The subject matter was a good pick but I didn't need to go down this cringe and patronizing.
Very strong vocals, strong riffs, and a very powerful message.
While at face value it might seem cookie-cutter, I think Avalanche Effect is, out of the bunch of Metal I've heard from radio-focused bands, the one case where I can truly say substance outdoes the style, and there's a special sauce here worth talking about, and this album is the perfect example of when calling it "generic" is more of a genre prejudice than a synonim of bland.

From Ashes To New is a band I like from time to time, and that being just out of the value of me particularly liking their vocalists and finding the Linkin-Park-but-the-rapper-is-NF style kind of endearing, admittedly results may vary but overall when a song of theirs works it just works, I still wish they pushed their sound a bit further because they can, but in terms of Octane-core this is OK-ish.
