You've seriously gotta be a mad man to think of this as a mediocre record. Sure, this is the first album of the infamous J/Mike Dinosaur Jr. duo, as Murph left, but by God what a great duo it is! J just confirms himself to be a great ass songwriter, perhaps even more so than the previous albums because this is more hard hitting and less abstract, and even though I didn't expect it, he's also a beast on the drums. And on the guitar, of course.

Aren't you all a little mean to this little album? It's no Blue or Pinkerton, sure - what is? - but you'd be dumb to say this is that much of a downfall in quality. (My biggest fans will recognize this same introduction line from my Pablo Honey review...this album is pretty much that, except it's not their debut)
