Imani Imani - Papercut
45

A snoozefest. R&B is one of those genres that is INCREDIBLY oversaturated with unintriguing and samey records, and this is for sure one of them. Nothing here was very interesting, I don't think Imani Imani's voice stands out particularly... yeah, just a complete void of anything to intrigue me here.

Tyler, The Creator - Bastard
15

An uncomfortable, vile, vulgar and immature listen. I knew all this already, but god these lyrics are abysmal. I don't care if it's a "product of the time" or not, I get that he's matured, but I am never gonna listen to this ever again.

Navy Blue - Sir Render
80

An absolutely stunning record from Navy that dived into such a deep introspection and meditation on his own condition as a human that has suffered. Every single feature here is unreal, with a stunning posthumous verse from Ka, a brilliant one from Earl, a great one from Mike Shabb (who perhaps I need to dive more into), and of course woods and E L U C I D of Armand Hammer absolutely killed theirs.

While I still think Memories in Armour slightly edges this one out for me, this is a very ... read more

SNVRK - SNVRKOLEPSY
15

Quite easily one of the worst things I'll hear all year. SNVRK is an absolute enigma, and I mean that in the worst way. If you just take a look at the promo for this album, and I mean *all* of it - the supposed "marketing stunt" that didn't actually happen, the "academic paper" that was written about it that is very clearly AI generated, the "features" on here like the track with Funk Flex which literally just samples a Flex-esque bomb, and is described ... read more

Vince Staples - Cry Baby
75

I really enjoyed this record and think it has a lot of potential to grow on me. Lyrically Vince is absolutely razor-sharp, and sonically this record knows exactly what it wants to be. I'm not fully getting the "concept album" angle about it yet, but I for sure can get the ideas that he's drawing upon across it - comparisons to the American flag in imagery of police being the most prominent. Happy to see Vince put out a record that feels so authentic to him.

Quip - square1
75

A really enjoyable digi-pop record that scratched my brakence itch, for sure. I had no clue quip was dropping, and span this back a couple of times today, both of which I really enjoyed. Production sounds super cool, quip's delivery really hits the spot, and just all in all this is a really concise record.

restless pines - 18th May, 2026 (PAD)
NR

my third EP this year, 18th May, 2026, is out now!!!! i hope you enjoy <3 featuring a near-continuous field recording by yours truly, recorded at London Paddington station :)

Lucy Lamb - Lucy Lamb
30

What a fucking mess. Genuinely. It's like Tiffany Day but worse. I wish Spotify hadn't told me to "Discover Lucy Lamb", because god, I want this time back.

tyrn - CRANKUP
75

A cool little 3-pack from Ty! Production is super moody and fits his voice a lot. I think my favourite here is the opener "NOREST", the shifting production helps it stay super interesting, and Ty's melodies and vocal inflections sound super great. "GETOFFMY", its catchy refrain and its twinkly production sounds super good too, and though "KNOWME" is my least fave track on here, it's by no means a bad track. The 808s on this one are a really cool driving ... read more

Clairo - late show
45

This one just kinda passed by, sadly. "bubble gum" is obviously brilliant but the rest really didn't interest me.

Clairo - have a nice day
70

This is for sure some of the best of Claire's earlier work. I love the echoey atmosphere of "winters love", I think the storytelling on "drywall" is so genuine and so sweet, and I think "doggy" is just a nice track.

Clairo - sweet
60

This was a lot better than the previous EPs I've heard! I think "fingertips" is an absolutely beautiful song, despite its slightly rough mixing, and "let my baby stay" is pretty.

Clairo - do u wanna fall in love?
35

I love you Claire but this was a rough listen 😭 Very short songs, horrendous audio quality, but... I can sense the heart in them, I'll just never be coming back to this!

BNYX® - GENESIS FM
55

GENESIS FM, like many other producer albums, exists in a very mediocre space where it cannot truly impress. Any producer album is bound to be a bit of a jumble of ideas, with only the very best producers (see: Metro Boomin) being able to make a *great* producer album.

That being said, as expected, this record is just okay. Opening up with a fairly irritating "mission statement" which echoes the same "no phones, just dance" statement of Tyler, The Creator's DON'T ... read more

Carly Hann - Alone EP
70

Carly's first solo offering is definitely pretty, but feels like it's just missing *something*. These are undoubtedly nice ballads, and Carly has a great voice, I just would've liked to see her push things a bit further. But there's not a skip on here, and there's some pretty pop to be found on Alone EP.

MUNA - Dancing On The Wall
75

A really solid, fun, summery, lesbian record. What's not to love? "Eastside Girls", "Girls's Girl" and "Big Stick" are my standouts here, especially the latter's sharp political commentary. Elsewhere, it's just a great time. I'll for sure be throwing this one on throughout the summer. It does what it needs to do. WE NEED MORE LESBIAN POP!

—— UPDATED REVIEW (80, 24th May 2026) ——

I think this is one of those albums I enjoy much more after the hype has died down. It's something that makes me want to revisit more acclaimed and hyped records in this way - rather than never returning.

I liked this a lot more than first listen. I listened to "The Peace" (easily my fave song on the whole record now) on a whim today, then just randomly decided to relisten to the whole thing - and I'm so glad ... read more

fakemink - Terrified .
40

Terrified . very much mirrors the idea I've gotten of Fakemink's persona over the last few months he's been in the public consciousness. This album is up its own ass a little bit (especially on the wholly pointless seven minute interlude "Fire & Ice .", the slightly pretentious song titles and the assorted upper class British voices that are scattered through the album), and is dragged down by vocals getting often completely swallowed by the beat.

Fakemink was ... read more

Lola Young - From Down Here
75

Really cool to see Lola on James Blake production! Interested to see if this continues into her next record, I think it really suits her voice.

Duval Timothy - rain music
80

An absolutely stunning album. Duval and Carlos' compositions are so delicate, and weaved together with field recordings (and the solitary but absolutely brilliant feature by Navy Blue), this was such a comforting listen. There's so many beautiful layers and soundscapes created on "rain music", and I can't wait to revisit it.
