My very first ever body of work is available to download / stream now on Bandcamp! :)
I've wanted to make music and put it out for years now. To have an artistic statement out in the world means a lot, and I always wanted that - but I'm awful at making melodies. I can't sing. But over the last few years, ambient music stuck out to me - specifically, mallsoft.
Mallsoft is a child of the vaporwave genre, and evokes nostalgia through corporate, retail sounding music - but wrapped ... read more
This, to me, is everything I don't want from mallsoft. Gone is that entrancing atmosphere, and instead this just feels too sterile. It doesn't evoke any sort of worldbuilding or nostalgia for me. It's just vapid and uninteresting.
This massively fell below my expectations. At best, this Puma Blue record feels a little Radiohead (especially in "Croak Dream", which reminded me of In Rainbows), but, for most of its runtime, it just bored me. Often, textures are too bare and amelodic that it just doesn't sound great, lyrics just faded into the background and didn't stick out... yeah, this one was a miss for me.

To the people calling this 'uninventive', please get better ears.
This doesn't feel like a soundtrack album at all, it feels more like a solo Charli LP. Wuthering Heights sees Charli on incredible form, straddling electronic/hyperpop sounds and blending them with classical crossover aesthetics to create an absolutely brilliant, concise album. "Dying for You" was definitely a standout on first listen, an absolutely brilliant track that feels very familiar but has so ... read more
I'm so excited for E L U C I D's upcoming album. Over this incredible beat by Sebb Bash, he's really flexing his lyricism, flowing from topic to topic like it's nothing. Both singles have created such a cool atmosphere, and I can't wait to hear the full record.
Wow, this album ruined me.
I've been familiar with Miya Folick's work for a number of years, but never dived into it until now. Her cover of "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" was featured on the soundtrack to the TV adaptation of John Green's book Looking for Alaska, and has been one of those songs I've clung to for a long time. But today, on a late-night walk to a convenience store, I put this record on.
Erotica Veronica tells Miya's story of breaking ... read more
If You Leave is one of those records that I underrate until I listen for the first time in a while. I don't fully grasp the extent of how brilliant it is, then I listen again - and I'm absolutely bowled over.
Daughter's debut album is an absolute masterclass in indie folk. Elena Tonra's vocals have me hanging onto her every word, her phrases sharp knives into the back of a former lover, or just sent out into the ether - raging at the world around her. "Winter", ... read more
Such a promising start, just to then fall into generic R&B trappings after two tracks, and not surface from them. "There Goes My Heart" could be one of my favourite Ella Mai songs - it sees her stuck between wanting love but being scared of commitment. "100" follows it with a beautiful sentiment about helping each other in a relationship, but then... beyond these, nothing stuck.
It's a real shame. I think Ella needs to carve out on her own and maybe leave Mustard ... read more
EDIT (75 -> 55): God, Disc 2 is a slog, I only saved one song. Massively grew off me on second listen... I'm not gonna be returning to this.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Disc 1: Very strong, very introspective, pretty much skipless top to bottom (minus "Legacy", "The Let Out" and "Bombs in the Ville/Hit the Gas"). Faves were "Run A Train", "Safety" and "WHO TF IZ U"
Disc 2: Very patchy. I wasn't expecting so many acoustic guitar-led ... read more
Affective at moments, but these are often too brief to catch ahold of properly. Shockingly, the 4batz feature (and the whole song, "Fade to Black" might be one of my fave moments on here, being incredibly emotional. I also liked the trippy "Sojourn", and a few of the singles (my fave being the cinematic "Last of a Dying Breed"). But, on the whole, this record passed quite quickly, and with no real payoff.
Such a weird track. Possessive, cloying, sickly-sweet, and pretty generic. I don't like this new direction for Maisie, I don't like how she's using her boyfriend as promo for every single thing she does. I promise, we don't care that much. I get a bad feeling about this album, but I guess we'll see.
Relistening, I think Mr. Morale is a good record. It goes very deep into Kendrick's psyche, and sees him reflecting on family trauma, toxic masculinity, masculinity in general, and self-growth.
It has some absolute standouts - tracks like "Father Time" with Sampha, "Count Me Out", the jaw-dropping "Mother I Sober", closer "Mirror" and "Crown" demonstrate that Kendrick is still very much a force to be reckoned with. However, I don't ... read more
Not worth your time at all. On revisit, Drake's For All The Dogs is boring, immature, and bloated. Whenever a feature is present, they almost always outperform him. When he's on a track solo, except very rare occasions like "What Would Pluto Do", he is dull, uninspired, and whiny.
I have nothing else to say.
A record that had me in a chokehold for a few years, then I got into more music, dismissed it as "not as good as before", and forgot about it. Now, with Rome teasing a new album on socials, I came back to it, and it just fills me with joy. Beautifully chaotic glitch/noise pop with alt-R&B tendencies and a nice handful of shoegazey sounds too, it's truly skipless for me. So glad I revisisted, and it's getting a slot on my faves of all time list.
r/im15andthisisdeep core. He's never made something that doesn't sound like the Euphoria soundtrack. So incredibly meaningless and overdramatic. What a waste of time!

Not as immediate as "2SIDED" but still gorgeous. I'm glad to see Arlo's poetic lyricism that perhaps wasn't as present on the latter is present in full force here - and above all, this new track continues to give an idea of the sonic world Ambiguous Desire will occupy.
Not a great listen. Cole is way too full of himself on here, and at his most brash I've heard him in a while, too - lines degrading women and trans people, to say the least. Not even mentioning the car crash that is "7 Minute Drill". Not much more to say about this mixtape!
Now, let's discuss Cole's discography as a whole. I've now heard The Sideline Story, Born Sinner, 2014 Forest Hill Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, KOD, and The Off-Season - all six of Cole's ... read more
By no means a masterpiece, but on revisiting, it's definitely Cole's best work. Not a bad song on here, and though I'm not crazy about anything on here, I find it to be a concise and fun listen. Cole definitely has hunger here, and I'm very interested to see if he brings that into The Off Season. "let go my hand" and "pride is the devil" are standouts here.
