Was ready to give it 100 but then all the hoes got scared away
Some great highlights but for the most part forgettable, unfortunately did not live up to the hype.
Jimi Hendrix's best album in my opinion; Electric Ladyland is great, but Axis: Bold as Love is so good, and much better in my opinion. For me it's the peak of his songwriting, as well as solos. There's so many great guitar classics on here, too, like Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand, and Bold as Love. Speaking of the title track, that right there is an AMAZING song, maybe his best. One of the best albums I've ever listened to. I don't even really like post rock or whatever genre you might put this into, but Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is a must listen. I think "life changing" is pretty extreme, but it could very well alter your perspective on music. This may sound pretentious, but the album's not an easy listen by any means, it's made up of four 20+ minute songs, and you really have to be in the right mood to listen to it. ... read more
Such a dark and gritty album, while still managing to be emotional and even beautiful. To me the album represents a tortured person's dark descent into drugs and addiction, starting with the heavy and high energy "Them Bones", about a lonely and paranoid man who feels doomed; and ending with "Would?", possibly the best song on the album, that seems to be the man's reflection on the destruction drugs has had on his life, asking if he's too far gone.
