The album feels heavy, energetic, powerful, and melodic all at once. I also can't help but notice the ambient part of the tracks, which makes it feel like you're listening to something important.
As for the lyrics... I like that Architects dig deep here and REALLY want to find answers to the questions, which, in my opinion, is what sets them apart from BMTH, who are just throwing dirt at the object of their hate. I'm a Christian, I believe in God and that He cares about ... read more
I never understood the idolization of Slipknot, and on this album the guys decided to imitate them. It sounds pretty good, but... I don't even know, maybe it's too pretentious. I liked it technically, but that's all.
FAVORITE: Lose Hold Of It All, Dominate Me.
I didn't expect much from "Deybreaker," but it really surprised me. The album is tragic, honest and direct. The songs sing anger mixed with regret for a dying society. This album is something special.
FAVORITE: Alpha Omega, Devil's Island, 'These Colours Don't Run, Outsider Heart.
"The Here And Now" feels so alive and fresh, even if it's a little childish lyrically. Whatever anyone says, I loved the album.
FAVORITE: An Open Letter To Myself, Learn To Leave, BTN.
Architects took what was in "Ruin" and made it a WAY better. However I'm not a fan of "chaos" in music, so I can't give "Hollow Crown" the credit it deserves, sorry.
FAVORITE: Hollow Crown, Follow The Water, Every Last Breath.
"Ruin" is an acquired taste. The album is too intense and monotonous. To love it, you need to be immersed, but I don't want for sure. "Nightmares" had something that caught my attention, but this one didn't.
FAVORITE: You'll Find Safety.
It wasn't as bad as I expected (except for the chaotic tapping, lol). In fact, if you really want to, you can get stuck in "Nightmares" for a long time. However I got bored of listening to it the first time.
FAVORITE: In The Desert, The Darkest Tomb.
A decent experimental post-rock/ambient EP. "fading constellations" feels like an intro to a metalcore/post-hardcore song.
FAVORITE: fading constellations, cerulean twilight.
These guys are good at stealing other bands' hooks, which is obvious from the very first song. Is the album poorly produced? No, it sounds solid. Will I listen to this seriously? Hmmm... Maybe not.
FAVORITE: not found :/
"Release The Panic" is a mixture of genuinely good songs and completely hollow ones. I have no idea what Red was trying to achieve here: to sound heavier and softer at the same time? The result is controversial.
FAVORITE: Hold Me Now, Perfect Life, Release The Panic.
The band found a happy medium between their first two albums, adding new elements. Moderately tragic and motivational. It's a good album, I like it.
FAVORITE: Let It Burn, Feed The Machine, Faceless, Lie to Me.
Technically, this EP is good, and the progress Polaris have made since "Dichotomy" is undeniable. However, it didn't grab me the same way like the band's next albums did.
FAVORITE: No Rest, Voiceless.
The album is so noisy and loud, but hollow itself compared to previous records. Pretentious melodies, drums, pads, howls.
I'm not saying "The Path" is bad, it's just... I don’t know, It's like a different band that makes music for sales only (my opinion).
FAVORITE: God of Fire, Prophet, Locked (In My Head).
The guitars became fatter, and I really like it. The lyrics, arrangements and production are all top-notch, especially for that time. The album is well-made, and technically, it's better than the previous one. However, I'll still give preference to "End of Silence" for its unbelievable atmosphere.
FAVORITE: Take It All Away, Mystery of You, Death of Me, Shadows.
One of the best alt-metal albums of all time.
In this record Red created an atmosphere that I haven't heard from any other band, be it Linkin Park, Evanescence, etc. I don't even know how to describe it, so amazing it is.
FAVORITE: Already Over, Let Go, Breathe Into Me, Lost.
This record is so different. In the beginning I was blown away by it with "DEGENERATE," whose pre-chorus alone left me baffled from the first seconds.
"SILOS" is a controversial album, with maxed-out bass, low-tuned guitars, autotuned vocals, and pointless interludes. Honestly, I was forcing myself to listen to it. The band's worst album.
FAVORITE: DYSTOPIA, ADA ASTRA.
"Vessels" + "DIVISIONS" = "HORIZONS".
On the positive side, the lyrics make sense, and the songs feel soulful. Otherwise, the band didn't bring anything new here (maybe that's for the best, idk).
To be honest, I didn't expect something more from this record, but "HORIZONS" surprised me.
P.S. in the song "INFECTED" you can hear notes of "BMTH - Can you feel my heart", lol.
FAVORITE: INFECTED, SOMETHING WICKED, THIS ... read more
The band changed their sound again. More electronics were added, the arrangements became more aggressive and acidic. STARSET feels more stylish here.
I can’t say that it became much worse. Just not everyone liked these changes, plus, I got a little bored while listening.
FAVORITE: TELEKINETIC, TRIALS, MANIFEST, ECHO.
Incredibly high-quality work. The production is top-notch. The interplay of guitars and electronic elements is masterfully executed. However, it lacks originality compared to the previous album, "Transmissions", and that's why I can't rate it highter.
FAVORITE: Monster, Ricochet, Die For You, Bringing It Down.
Compared to typical alt-rock/metal albums, Transmissions stands out. While the album boasts strong catchy tunes that would be suitable for AMVs, the band also allowed itself to add some non-standard elements. All this, plus the space theme, is what makes it stand out. In short, it's a gem in alt-rock/metal.
P.S. Breakdown on "The Future Is Now" is one of my favorites in the genre.
FAVORITE: Dark On Me, Telescope, It Has Begun, Carnivore.
