While this album might not match up to the absolutely insane Prowler In The Yard, it’s still incredible. They take a more punk approach to the songs on this one and it feels even more manic, if also maybe more generic. JR also experiments more with his vocals, adding some more almost clean moments among the shrieks. Another insane showing from this incredible band.
Favorite Song: Towering Flesh
Benümb Side: 77
Pretty decent old school Grindcore with some pretty gnarly bass drops in the first song. Never heard of these guys but I’m intrigued.
Favorite Song: Path Of The Righteous
Pig Destroyer Side: 83
Mostly made up of shorter songs so there’s not as much to latch on to, but it’s still super fun. This lands perfectly on the scale of shitting mixing that makes it sound better than normal, especially the insane distortion on the vocals. It gets borderline wall ... read more
This is possibly my favorite album of all time. My cousin showed it to me when I was nowhere near ready to hear it, but I still liked it anyway. The vocals are so unhinged, the writing is amazing, the riffs are so fucking nasty, the drummer sounds like a clock on meth. Everything on this album is absolutely perfect and I could listen to it for days on end over and over an never get tired of it. Absolute masterpiece.
Favorite Song: Trojan Whore
ISIS Side: 32
ISIS is a band I’ve heard about multiple times before, but I’ve never listened to because Post Metal just doesn’t interest me. I’m not judging them off of this, though, because I honestly just think they picked a shitty song to cover. Streetcleaner by Godflesh is annoyingly boring, repetitive and corny so I can’t really blame ISIS’s cover for being the same.
Pig Destroyer Side: 90
Dude FUCK YES! Possibly the best Grindcore band on earth ... read more
Pig Destroyer Side: 80
I’m not sure what’s more insane, the fact that Pig Destroyer decided to release a Stooges cover, or the fact that it’s actually pretty good. It sounds like the original song of you locked the band in solitary for multiple years. Aside from that, this is Pig Destroyer’s best showing yet. It’s the most Hardcore inspired stuff they’ve done so far and the breakdown moments hit like a truck. So good.

Orchid Side: 80
Some pretty great emoviolence, which is a genre I’m very inexperienced in, but this makes me want to listen to more of it. The riffs are really powerful on this one.
Favorite Song: Consumed
Pig Destroyer Side: 74
Didn’t expect to like the other side more, but Pig Destroyer’s side is mainly some pretty simple grind, with a few repeat tracks from the debut album. The mixing is somehow worse than the debut, but I also don’t really give a shit.

This is some classic, raw ass Grindcore. The mixing is garbage, the performances are sloppy, the vocals are insane and the track lengths are ridiculous. None of these are complaints. If you know anything about Grindcore, this should sound exactly as you expect it to. It does get pretty repetitive but with no song other than the last reaching even the 2 minute mark, it doesn’t even get the chance to be annoying. So happy to be starting this legendary band.
Favorite Song: Flesh Upon Gear
This album shows off how easy it is to write good music, cause I’m pretty sure every single song uses the same fucking riff but it’s still good every time. It’s a lot of fun to listen to and I imagine they go absolutely crazy live.
Some decent Goregrind here, but it’s a little too much for my taste. Also the obsession with the word septic almost starts to be grating.
Favorite Song: Septic Baptism
This is one of those album that I really shouldn’t like, but I do. I typically hate these melodic, epic sounding black/death metal albums, but this one just hits for me. Love the vocals and the riffs here. The only thing that’s really lacking is the lead guitar, which I think is incredibly lackluster and borderline amateur sounding. But overall, this thing is pretty sick.
Favorite Song: Fouled Sanctity
This album was pretty much what I was expecting. Although, the amount of songs that lean to the chill side is actually pretty surprising. Either way, it’s full of casual songs without much substance, but they’re all fun. Ready for that solo album now.
Favorite Song: Lit Effect
I’m not really sure what genre this album would really be classified as, but it’s pretty cool. I’m not crazy about the singers voice, but he’s good enough to let everything else, especially the drummer, carry him. The lyrics are also pretty good.
Favorite Song: Darius
Couldn’t bring myself to finish this album. Every single song is the same emotional metalcore slop you could get from any band on the radio nowadays. This band might as well rename to “The Devil Wears Architects of Sleep Omens”
Even though this really isn’t a strictly Kendrick Lamar album, I still feel like this is under his quality level for him after Section.80. Feels like they either wouldn’t let him do what he really wanted to, or he didn’t try that hard. Either way, some songs are good, some aren’t so good, and some are really good.
Favorite Song: Pray For Me
Finally listening to this for the first time and it’s about what I expected. Decent tracks but nothing that crazy. They do sonically lean towards TPAB, mostly, which automatically boosts them in my case. Kendrick goes way harder here than most of his other albums, which is also pretty cool.
