Banger ass song. Kendrick doesn’t make these often so we gotta appreciate them when he does.
There’s not much to say other than that this is a great song
Can’t help but wonder why this song is so beloved. It’s good, but people LOOOOVE it. The hook is weird but the verses are really good.
“Old soul, bitch, I prolly built them pyramids.” Hits different after hearing this senior citizen ass flow
A relatively relaxed and laidback mixtape, and it’s pretty good. The remixes are all pretty good and most of the new songs are about the same. Doesn’t really feel like it’s much different from the last EP, but I’d say it’s better.
Favorite Song: The Heart, Pt. 2
Overall a much higher quality project than any of the ones before. Kendrick’s flow isn’t the best, but it’s passable and in combination with the much better writing, it’s pretty good. Far From Here is pretty garbage though.
Favorite Song: Determined
The first half of this tape had me thinking it’d be the worst one yet, but as soon as Half Way Crooks hit this tape just brings some of the best songs I’ve heard in the discog so far. Hearing Kendrick over some of these absolutely legendary beats is so fucking cool, although I lowkey feel like Jay Rock clears him mostly on this tape. Either way, it’s pretty good.
Favorite Song: Half Way Crooks
This tape has way more good songs than the last tape, but the monstrous length puts it under it. It feels the same as the previous, with all the same complaints and positives, but it’s much much longer. The main difference is that this is the first time I can tell what Kendrick would go on to be.
Favorite Song: The Best Rapper Alive
Yall are hating on this way to much. Even when he was a child, Kendrick could still write some hard ass verses. There are some pretty ass parts here, but for a 17 year old’s first ever mixtape it’s actually pretty fucking good. Way better than what Denzel was putting out at this age.
Favorite Song: Go DJ
Some pretty decent and gnarly technical death thrash here. All you need is more vocals with some variation, a thicker guitar tone and extremely shortened track lengths and you got yourself an amazing album.
Favorite Song: Warped
Love the production style on this album, but melodeath isn’t my favorite genre out there. These guys pull it off pretty well though. That misfits cover is definitely not the best.
Favorite Song: My Destiny; A Weapon
Pretty cool, if very repetitive and sometimes boring blackened death metal album. Especially really good for a debut.
Favorite Song: Aeons of Spiritual Starvation
Pretty creepy soundscape album. It gets pretty boring and it’s not exactly my style but it’s cool.
