I saw these guys open for Sunami last month and I remember they had incredible energy and the music sounded decent, but I could take or leave the set. This album without When Memory Is Pain… is pretty mid but that song is so random but amazing it puts this album in the green.

Crazy how this is one of their worst songs

Pretty much Death Grips’ true noise project. I’m not really into this style, but as one big experience I kinda dig it.

Well that was certainly an interesting switch up in sound. This is somehow their most calm album and their most experimental album at once. I can’t say I really prefer the direction this went in, but Death Grips are just so fucking good they make it work. Super excited for that new album.

Favorite Song: Flies

Basically just electronic sounding noise, which I can get behind. Never my choice, though.

I really don’t like how this is just one song. If it was actually split into the songs it would be much better. Aside from that, I really appreciate the experimentation, but it’s not exactly my favorite sound of theirs. Still pretty good though.

I kinda hate Primus and Les Claypool’s music but this is also Death Grips so it’s good

This album is a straight up, unadulterated masterpiece. Every single song on it is better than most artists best songs. The atmosphere is so creepy and unnerving, the production is the best they’ve ever had and Ride’s vocals are absolutely peak. This isn’t Death Grips 2.0, this is Music 2.0.

Favorite Song: Hot Head or Three Bedrooms in a Good Neighborhood

I honestly don’t know what just happened

In my personal opinion, this works much better as a double album than either of the singular albums themselves work as individual albums. Listening to this whole thing together is a damn near life changing experience. Obviously none of the songs are changed, so my complaints I had originally stay, but man this is incredible.

Favorite Song: Up My Sleeves or Inanimate Sensation

I don’t think I like this quite as much as NOTM individually. That being said, it’s still obviously amazing. The addition of insane noise-punk energy mixed with Ride’s most personal lyrics is great. On GP is obviously one of their best songs. This album feels crazy to listen to. Not sure how to put it, but it’s a different type of experience than any other DG album so far. Glad this actually got released.

Favorite Song: Inanimate Sensation

I don’t think this album was even supposed to be all that good. I mean, it was mainly released as a meme and a teaser for their actual next album. That being said, it’s still kind of enjoyable. The beats are solid and creative as hell, I just can’t help but miss Ride on them. Excited to move on from this.

While this is the most experimental Death Grips album so far, I don’t think it’s their weirdest. Still, this album is pretty hard to understand. The lyrics are incredibly cryptic, the sample work is probably the strangest I’ve ever heard and MC Ride’s flow is extremely unorthodox. That being said, I think this album is incredible. It’s so creepy and feels like you’re inside the mind of a depressed alien. I adore this album.

…what the actual fuck was that????! This is seriously the weirdest album listening experience I’ve ever had in my life. The music videos really don’t help either. First two songs go hard as fuck but after that this album just goes full on whacked out and it’s… certainly music. I’m so confused.

This album was very interesting. It felt like I shouldn’t have enjoyed it but I was loving every second. I can’t even really explain it, it’s a crazy experience.

Sounds like if Lord Of The Game was on TMS. I mess with it but it’s best in the format away from any project. It’s also a bit to long

As a short film it’s great but as an actual song it’s not really anything at all.

Personally, not as good as Exmilitary, but still fuckin incredible. The scary, fucked up vibe on this album is strong it feels like I’m temporarily turned into a psychopath while listening or something. I didn’t expect how bassy it would be, either. System Blower is right. What a fucking album, man.

Favorite Song: I’ve Seen Footage

Interesting mix. In the second song it’s hard to even really hear anything that’s happening so it kind of kills it for me a bit.
