Holy fucking shit this somehow met my monstrous expectations. I went in to this familiar with Guillotine and Takyon and it somehow stayed relatively close to that level. This is an absolute masterpiece of insanely aggressive rap music and it’s one of the best projects I’ve ever heard.
Favorite Song: Takyon (Death Yon)
I am fucking FINALLY DOING DEATH GRIPS. Starting of the discog pretty strong with this one. It’s more “rap” than what would come later, but the quintessential Death Grips energy was there from the very beginning. Also, Takyon is like a top 10 rap song ever in my opinion, so that definitely helps.
Favorite Song: Takyon (Death Yon)
Speed Metal is a genre I’m pretty much entirely uneducated on. However, this album bangs pretty hard. Theres a section towards the middle that gets pretty samey and it’s a bit of a slog, but the beginning and ESPECIALLY the end are pretty fucking great. And, again coming from an uneducated person, Bastardized Force might be the best Speed Metal song I’ve ever heard.
Favorite Song: Bastardized Force
This might be the most extreme album I’ve ever heard. The monstrous bass just absolutely destroys the mix and makes it sound like pure noise at points but I don’t hate it. It’s a very interesting album, but I’m not actively seeking more of it.
I found this project through one of the members once being in Job For A Cowboy I don’t think this is for me lmao
This shit fucking rips omg. The vocals are so rabid and they go so well with the insane eclectic instrumentals. If I got thrown into the pit while any of these songs were playing I’d be accepting death.
Favorite Song: Inside Joke
Pretty interesting listen. The vocalist isn’t super present but the riffs are really good and carry the album pretty far. Not a big fan of the song run times but since there’s only four it isn’t a big deal.
Favorite Song: Décombres Fumants
Extremely generic metalcore. If you love metalcore, you’ll probably love this. To me, every song sounds repetitive and follows a similar structure and it gets really boring as it goes on. They have a lot of potential, though.
Favorite Song: Culled and Forgotten
Decided to give this album a shot but I’m not really into it. Just not my style.
Favorite Song: Critique Programme
Absolutely brutal, vile, disgusting, brutal, brutal and even more brutal half hour. Did I mention it’s brutal as fuck?
Favorite Song: Of Pillars and Trees
Edit: THESE GUYS ARE FROM MY STATE TOO????
Not sure what I can say other hell yeah, hardcore!
Favorite Song: The Difference
This album is absolutely crushing. The atmosphere mixed with the seldom relenting cavernous rampage is fucking amazing. I don’t usually like Doom centric music, but this shit hits the spot.
Favorite Song: Excruciating Refuge in Reoccurring Torment
I really like this artist but I just can’t get through this personally. My attention span won’t allow it.
This bands debut project is going to be so legendary it might actually rip someone’s fucking head off
On one hand, I’m eternally grateful for Slipknot being a gateway into more extreme metal and I’ll always love their music so much. On the other hand, god I wish this band would’ve continued this demo is fuckin amazing
This album takes a much more ambient approach, as opposed to the previous two albums pretty drum heavy styles. Probably a silly complaint, but it’s what made me get into Opal Vessel’s music in the first place so it’s what I look for. Still damn good for what it is, just not really for me.
Favorite Song: Never Want To Leave
Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this but I didn’t get much out of it. Might return to it one day to see if I change my mind though.
Favorite Song: I Got Heaven
I adore the aesthetic of this album. The dark, rugged underground feel is sick combined with the serene yet creepy music. It feels like walking through a liminal space trying to look like a local hardcore venue or something, it’s sick.
Favorite Song: Thorns
