Sometimes I wonder if 13 year old me saw what I listen to now if he’d ever listen to Slipknot again.
Favorite Song: Submerged In Sewage Water
The more doom metal I listen to, the more I realize it’s a genre not made for me. This is no different.
Favorite Song: Forced Disorder
This is one of the most unique sounding albums I’ve ever heard. First off, I don’t even think there’s guitar on here, I’m pretty sure it’s all distorted bass. Second off, it’s very political powerviolence mixed with Hip-Hop. Dylan is such a talented vocalist it somehow works, though. It has a lot of flaws, but it’s a decent listen overall.
Favorite Song: Throne Of Oppression
Suffocation brings their most brutal record since Pierced. Ricky is probably the best choice to replace Frank in the world, and he knows it. The vocals are so fucking brutal and unhinged and they go so well with the hopeless atmosphere of this album. This is Suffocation at their best since the 90s, and I love to see it.
Favorite Song: Perpetual Deception
Another banging ass Suffocation album. Not as crazy about the production here as I was the last few but, but it’s still great.
Favorite Song: Some Things Should Be Left Alone
This album has the first Suffocation song that I don’t like in it, which is Purgatorial Punishment. The whole first bit of this album is somewhat lackluster for this bands standards, but once As Grace Descends hits, it’s all hits from there. Suffocation’s production has been really good on the last two projects, making the riffs sound so incredibly heavy and crushing. Also, Frank’s vocals are more brutal than they have been since Despise The Sun, which is always ... read more
This is one of their heaviest sounding albums. The mix is so fucking good here. They go back to their older, more brutal style on this after the more sludgy style of the last one, and I’m really happy they did. This album is pure gold. Every riff is bone crushing and every scream is hair raising. Suffocation are fucking KINGS of brutality.
Favorite Song: Undeserving
Suffocation taking a more sludgy/doomy sound on this album, which means that I automatically don’t like it as much. Those genres don’t speak to me, much. However, it’s still motherfucking Suffocation. It’s still brutal and awesome. The lyrics are pretty goofy, though.
Favorite Song: Entrails of You
Is it a step down from the last 3? Yes. Is it still an amazing album? Hell yes. Suffocation just absolutely bring it on their big comeback album. The riffs are so fucking fast but never really feel like pure wankery and I’m actually a big fan of Frank’s new vocal style on this album. Honestly, the worst part of this album is the kind of ugly cover. They still got it.
Favorite Song: Surgery of Impalement
I do start to notice some issues here, mainly with repetitiveness and less than stellar riffs, but whatever man. It’s suffocation and it’s pretty sick.
Favorite Song: Funeral Inception
Suffocation had THE best three album run in the 90s. Three absolutely perfect, 10/10 Death Metal masterpieces. And I think this one is the best out of them all. The riffs are so ridiculously heavy and crushing and the bass is so crisp and gnarly. It’s just so fucking brutal and amazing.
Favorite Song: Thrones Of Blood
AND THEY DID IT AGAIN??? Okay, this album is infamous for the mix on it. 1. It really isn’t that bad or different from other Death Metal album for its era, 2. Who the fuck gives a fuck? This shit absolutely smacks. More absolutely brutal shit from these legends. They can do no wrong in this era.
Favorite Song: Breeding The Spawn
I can’t believe it took me this long to get to this album. Liege of Inveracity has been my favorite motherfucking song for at least a year. I constantly bump that shit and I finally get to the whole album and, there’s no other way to put it, it’s a Brutal Death Metal Masterpiece. Insanely low and guttural vocals, batshit drums, and oh my god the riffs. Whether it’s a slam breakdown or the fastest tremolo riff ever fucking played, I promise it’s gonna be peak. This ... read more
IM FINALLY DOING SUFFOCATION’S DISCOG!!! This EP rips so hard. The production is pretty bad especially on the drums, but who the fuck cares? The band was already showing they could create some of the hardest hitting BDM ever and they hadn’t even begun to show off yet.
Favorite Song: Infecting The Crypts
Andrew Lee is an underrated genius and you can’t convince me otherwise. The more Goregrind I listen to the more it becomes one of my favorite genres ever. And this album specifically is really moshable. It also makes me feel a little hypocritical, because I despise Meme Slam but I apparently really like Anime Goregrind.
Favorite Song: HGT Live at the Budokan
I despise Bktherula’s music but she knows how to bring it on a Denzel track. The hook is repetitive and a little annoying but everyone’s verses are at least decent. Hyped for this album.
This is that good shit, right here. Parts of this feel like ear cocaine. Not a huge fan of the drawn out noise/ambient parts but when this album sounds like the rising of Hell, it slaps so hard.
Favorite Song: Cop Code
Another album I couldn’t really get into. To me, this music is all about vibes, and I didn’t really like this vibe.
