Polish Music Deep Dive #29
Long time no see. I had some personal turbulence that kept me from posting anything here but here I am, back with this instant classic from the mid-2000s. Let’s pick things up after a bit of a setback.
It’s 2004. Poland has just joined the European Union. There’s light at the end of the tunnel: at least, that’s what some people say. Polish music stations are playing Rapowe Ziarno to death. I really enjoyed the music video. You can't ... read more
My first impression after listening to this album is: Let’s make sound an installation. Hey, it definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but why not seek tasty novelty? Honey for the Ants is such an interesting mixture of classic forms and sonic novelties.
I wouldn’t say this album melts my heart: it doesn’t even have to! It’s quite mechanical and technical in its approach (I’m not classically trained, sadly 😔), but it’s definitely worth ... read more
can't wait for when he starts singing or sth hoping he could, though. I just hope whatever he does isn’t painful for him or anything like that.

I wanted to look up James Welsh in a search engine, and one of the results was James Welsh, the British makeup and skincare influencer. Is he the same person who made this album?

waiting for the final review TBC
Listening to this album feels like being trapped in a small and claustrophobic 3D cubicle. There are literally no windows, no furniture, and your hands are bound. When you attempt to escape this confined space, your body collides with the walls, and the walls emit sounds. These sounds are the album itself. That’s exactly how it feels.
Ojos Tristes is a nice little song, and the same goes for don't wanna cry now. i'd rather not spend more time on this release than one farewell listen.
My finicky, easily irritated ear and my fidgety soul really vibe with this record. I’m usually the one who gets bored quickly with folk or singer-songwriter albums, but this one makes me want to play it again, and again, and AGAIN. Nice one.
Long time no see! The Polish Music Deep Dive has gathered a bit of dust, and I’ve lost track of what the current review number is or what it should be. But no worries, let’s dive back in.
Hey, Basia! I’d never heard anything from her before, as algorithms and my own music choices usually steer me in stranger directions. At first, I was a bit skeptical. I almost thought, "Solid voice, but the music is decent without being particularly outstanding or interesting." ... read more
For individuals with misophonia or sound sensitivity, this track will feel like a peculiar torture chamber. Bah, I'm just speaking for myself.
57 minutes spent with Hypnotica literally makes you feel like you're listening to one long song. The title doesn't lie. It's self-explanatory. Hey, it's not too bad, to be honest, it's just the sound of that time. Really nice electro house, and some tracks like 'Love Is Gonna Save Us' are solid and outstanding. Despite the blandness and monotonous vibe, I'd give it a try while running on a treadmill.
7/10 BUT
Attitude makes my brain itch. Wtf was that. I had to mute this fucking song because I was losing my mind. It wasn’t even a song, it was just a woman making disgusting noises like ble ble bel pepepepe pepepepe bubububu bebebeubswue with her MOUTH. DISGUSTING. If you have sound sensitivity or misophonia, you'd get me. I’m wondering if this shit was really necessary on the album. I’d drop the total album rating by 10 because of this shit of a song called ATTITUDE. ... read more
This album sounds like the microscopic life of microorganisms. it's like observing the world through a microscope. LOOK, hydra's cell is moving! And it's glowing in blue, green, and red!
You can feel the micro movements of bees at work, see the flowers blossoming, and witness the microorganisms thriving. Everything on this album is delicate, microscopic, and intimate. It's a molecular experience. OK LOU ;)
