Polish Music Deep Dive #23
What a glorious, entertaining, and bold record! Infectiously dancey, infectiously catchy, and magnetic, as it should be. No more wordy words are needed because this album simply explains itself with the massive quality it carries. Totally worth listening.

Reni is undoubtedly a multi-talented and visionary artist. I listen to her albums with some sadness in my heart because I truly believe she deserved some more recognition. There's no issue with the artist; it's the audience's perception and sense of understanding. The audience is accustomed to a very narrow and specific style in music. The understanding of Polish dance or club music strongly and visibly differs from Reni's understanding of club music. Reni did her ... read more

So far, this is hands down one of the best O.S.T.R albums I've had the pleasure of listening to. I'm too exhausted to write a detailed review, but I just love this album. Not gonna lie. The production, the lyrics, and the overall vibe captivate me from start to finish. It's a true masterpiece that showcases O.S.T.R's talent and creativity.
I like the album cover.
Polish Music Deep Dive #20
Personally, this is not one of my favourite albums. It doesn't really stand out, in my opinion. Some disses on this album, particularly those attacking Violetta Villas or Reni Jusis, are off-putting for me. A BIG NO. It's pretty average overall, but not to the point of being unlistenable.
Polish Music Deep Dive #19
Jazz w wolnych chwilach sonically differs from other O.S.T.R releases. This one tops my list of Adam's albums. It's worth listening to if you're in the right mood and have the time to spend 2.5 hours immersing yourself in true school hiphop. Caution: it's not for everyone.

Despite being born and raised in the same city as Adam, I had intentionally avoided delving into his discography until now. I constantly heard praises about Adam's music in the background. I had no idea what to really expect from a local violinist and rapper. I had heard some of his tracks here and there, but had absolutely no understanding of where his legendary status came from.
Here we go, Tabasko is playing. What a discovery: great sampling combined with great ... read more

Some artists forget about the inevitable fact that time is passing by and trends are changing as well. Those who fully acknowledge this fact and have the ability to adapt, change, and develop with time benefit from it as artists. O.S.T.R. seems to think he has a time machine and it's still 2001. There's no benefit here, Adam. It's not a compliment. XX is uninteresting and off-putting, with some lyrics that are simply cringey and repetitive. Burnout is seemingly ... read more
65 > 85
Everyone should relisten to albums from time to time because your perception of the record may change over time. I relistened to Ray of Light today, AND NOW I'm finally ready to change my rating from 65 to 85.

Hello again, after a brief Polish music hiatus, I'm back. So, what piece of art do I have to review today? Let's dive into Renata Lewandowska's music and her one and only release, Dotyk. I've come across many positive reviews about this album, especially from non-Polish listeners, so I had high hopes and was super excited about delving into Dotyk, or translating the album title to English: Touch.
Meehhhhhh... well, I didn't like it. I had this strange impression ... read more
Lemme describe it: a void of radio hits and mental emptiness. I forgot what I heard immediately after the album stopped playing.
I've never heard anything from St. Vincent before, so excuse my ignorance. It's on my to-listen-to list. I didn't know what to expect or what kind of art pop/rock record this would be. I believe that one listen is not enough to form a specific and objective opinion about 'All Born Screaming' (lol I like the title). Nevertheless, the first listen did absolutely nothing for me. I'll set it aside for a few months, delve into St. Vincent's discography, and then I'll come back to this record wiser ... read more
Young Gucci Mane with a blocked nose or nasal polyps. As someone said, 'Trap House' is one of the most influential records of the 00s. When all those rappers were making hip-popish songs, Radric (along with Atlanta's legends) invented a whole new genre. Nobody was as fat and fresh as Gucci was back then. Yeah, I'm saying it as a girl. These lyrics aren't a feminist manifesto, but I don't care. 'Trap House' is classic, with legendary lyrics and a style that's inimitable.
I desperately need to relisten to this. One listen is not enough to fully appreciate or hate it.
*After listening again on 22/08/24, I changed the rating from 65 to 75. This record is hitting me even harder with every new listen.
Moral Panic was recommended to me by @gabexiety. Thank you once again for the recommendation!
Now, onto the review! Before I dive into my opinions, I must admit that I'm relatively inexperienced with alternative rock music. Whenever I explore the genre, it's either a hit or miss for me. So, how did this experience turn out?
The first thing that caught my attention was the striking resemblance in the opening track. The melody and drums reminded me of 'Wet From Birth' by The Faint – a ... read more

Enticed by encouraging reviews and its appealing style, I delved into the album 'Surowa Kara Za Grzechy,' only to find that it didn't live up to my expectations. I had anticipated that 'Surowa Kara Za Grzechy' would earn a permanent spot on my private playlist. However, my enthusiasm waned after the fourth track.
The album openers, 'Kiedy śnię swój mały sen' and 'Ona Chce się wieszać,' initially filled me with hope that this project would be exceptional. ... read more

Beware of one of the most underrated Polish synthpop records from the Polish People's Republic. Discogs clearly identifies the genre; "Zapomnisz O Wczorajszym Dniu" is a synthpop record, not disco polo. It's a fact: Bolter is a peculiar entity that musically predates disco polo, but this particular album has nothing in common with it. It visibly follows the trends of 1980s Europe. The saddest part about this album is its lack of recognition. Unfortunately, ... read more

This one will be short, following my recent review of Czesław's album. Pop bears similarities to Debiut, but I prefer this one over his first album. Why? I see more quality here. This album offers everything my taste craves: satire elements, witty and sharp lyrics mixed with great music. It's the ultimate combo for a strong and solid production.
Why should you listen to Pop? Simply for the lyrics and the harmony of the entire band playing in the most balanced and ... read more

It's been a while, Czesław Śpiewa! Last time I heard anything from Czesław was about 15 years ago. He's one of the most eccentric personalities among Polish celebrities and artists. Arriving in Poland around 2007/8, this Polish-Danish-Ukrainian mix quickly carved out a prominent place in the local industry. As quirky as he is, Czesław is the kind of guy you either love or can't stand. For me, it's adoration all the way.
Familiar with Czesław's music, his albums ... read more
