My husband jokingly told me that I'm crazy for liking this album and that he might consider divorce if I blast it too loudly. What a snowflake. LOL
No, I'm not typically a fan of reggae, roots, or similar genres. However, I have immense respect for the pioneers of reggae. So, why do I adore Vabang! so much? Picture this: the world is crumbling around you, chaos and despair everywhere. What do you do? Put on an even more depressing record? Let's say, for argument's ... read more

What prompted me to review this album is Porcys' top 100 Polish albums list. You got me, Porcys. I personally don't regard their list as a musical gospel, as my taste differs immensely from theirs, but it's always a great opportunity to discover some new music. Papa Dance and their album, 'Poniżej Krytyki,' was ranked in the 1st place. Intriguing.
When I think about Papa Dance and their music, I see my dad, terribly drunk, having the time of his life somewhere in ... read more

Reviewing Maanam and their debut album is one of the toughest tasks in art critique. Why? Undoubtedly, Maanam has secured their position in Polish culture thanks to their immaculate and authentic style, great vocals, distinguished stage presence, and even better songwriting. However, despite their undeniable talent and unique style of playing, I find it challenging to pen down a potent review. As I mentioned before while reviewing another Polish album, when it comes ... read more
What a lovely disappointment. 'Your Day Will Come' has tons of potential and sounds so great, but unfortunately, the one thing that really puts me off is the vocals. As good as it sounds, I cannot express it with any words. Truly enjoyable. Ehhh, I'll eventually come back to this record in the future to see if it will grow on me.

Zebra: Kayah and her little zoo, or perhaps her funky circus. Let's start with this one. When Zebra starts playing, you immediately get the strong impression that Kayah had a great time and put a lot of energy and heart into this project. It's a heartwarming adventure, especially in times when music production and the music-making process are more like a business than artistry. You may detest or complain about some weaker songs, but you cannot deny that Kayah and all ... read more

Meeting the Polish jazz legend, Tomasz Stańko, for the very first time left me unsure where to begin, so I randomly chose an album from 1991. 'Bluish' introduces a wonderful trio consisting of Tomasz Stańko on trumpet, Jon Christensen on drums, and Arild Andersen on electric bass. Some suggest that 'Bluish' is a Polish response to Miles Davis' 'Kind of Blue.'
I cannot say more than it's a solid neo-bop album. 'Bluish' has everything a solid jazz album should ... read more
Kacey is my favorite country starlet. Name another singer who's great at creating a cozy, cottagecore fairytale atmosphere. Kacey, there she is. Pure, innocent, and immensely talented with her 'Golden Hour' album. She reminds me of some kind of celestial fairy. Her music melts my heart and brightens my day. This girl makes country sound angelic and buttery smooth like nobody else does.
Her songs have a scent, a texture, and open an imaginative portal for me. Choosing 'Slow Burn' as an opener ... read more

Well, I don't even know how to start here. Klaus Mitffoch is a music recommendation from my husband. He said, 'I really enjoyed it when I was a teenager. I don't know whether it aged well, but please, you should give it a try! Let me know what your impression is then.'
So here we are. I gave it a try and felt absolutely nothing afterward - no special connection, no emotions whatsoever. My personal perception of this record makes it even more complex to construe any ... read more

I've heard a lot of good things about this album; some may even consider it legendary, a classic, or genre-shaping. Today marks my first encounter with Siekiera and 'Nowa Aleksandria.'
What strikes me at first glance is the monotonous composition. I had high expectations for a coldwave release, especially since I listened to a lot of Pornografia (if you're not familiar, you should check out their discography) over a decade ago when I was a teenager. I anticipated ... read more
From the very beginning, I didn't expect to fall in love with this record simply because math rock is not my thing and never will be. Still, I respectfully listen to any new release, even if it may not meet my personal expectations, just to broaden my somewhat limited taste in music. The result? Well, I didn't like it. Perhaps it wasn't the right time to listen to this record; I'm not sure who should be blamed. The level of weirdness is something I personally don't resonate with well. As a ... read more

How do you create a quiet storm album without the traditional quiet storm elements?
I've always had a particular impression of this album, even though I've never heard it before. Today, on April 21st, I listened to "Samotność po zmierzchu" for the first time. Reflecting on my initial impression, just from hearing the single, I envisioned this album as murky and gloomy, with scents of tobacco, leather, and coffee. Was my impression accurate? Yes and no. ... read more

In my view, Monika's debut album stands out as a clever marketing move, particularly evident in how producers and the label strategically introduced her to the industry. By including three standout hits like "Miałeś Być," "Ten," and "Dziewczyna Mojego Chłopaka," Monika garnered significant publicity and was afforded the space to explore and define her artistic identity. These tracks not only propelled her onto the radio charts but ... read more

Granda introduces an experimental and soul-stirring journey into Brodka's Kitchen. Here, the artist concocts her own unique blend, achieving a harmonious fusion of flavors that resonate deeply. "Granda" emerges as a beacon of innovation amidst the late 2000s music landscape. The bold incorporation of synthesizers, infectious drum beats, and vocal impressionism marks a departure from the post-Idol era. As aliensuperstar aptly noted in their review, ... read more

Welcome to my Polish Music Deep Dive Expedition. I'll be reviewing and delving into the most significant Polish releases from 1980 to 2010. Reviewing every single album released might be quite challenging, so I'll focus on the most prominent productions spanning these three decades of the Polish music industry. I've often dismissed the idea of exploring Polish music, perhaps due to a bias, always justifying it by claiming I'm not particularly interested in local ... read more
The tortured white narcissistic privileged deluded Taylor's department.
Oh, my, goodness. What I just heard was the epitome of boredom and monotony. I'm too old to romanticize artists, so my review should not contain any signs of emotion, but goodness - I did not enjoy what I heard. Listen to it once and forget it exists. The opening song is ridiculously boring and tasteless. If I heard it in an elevator, I'd assume it's from the generic music from Free Royalty Music. Unrecognizable, much like ... read more
Bom dia. This is my first meeting with Deftones. You heard me roight, LISTENING 2 DEFTONES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2024, yeah I lived under a rock until now. My thoughts, if any? Don't know, sounds like a man moaning. I'll relisten to it some other day and dive into Deftones discography to get a broader picture of their work.
