Charli xcx - BRAT
94

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #38: June 7th
Finally, time to talk about my favorite album of 2024. "Brat" came out swinging immediately, and the cultural phenomenon that followed was the craziest thing to follow as an early Charli XCX fan. While my brain and ears gave this a 100 on initial listen, I came back to this to review after listening to this whole album front to back at least once a week since it came out. I can say it is not a 100 now, but with how intense and immense the ... read more

Little Simz - Lotus
92

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #37: June 6th
For this music moment, I take a look back on Little Simz latest record "Lotus". As one of my favorite UK rappers, I've known her music since "Grey Area". "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert" is likely my favorite project from her still, but this record does a very good job of taking a step back and being more emotional and surface level in a dynamic way. I always admire and indulge in Little Simz production choices. I ... read more

Vince Staples - Cry Baby
93

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #36: June 5th (NEW MUSIC FRIDAY)
I was so intrigued and baffled when I saw the "White Flag" music video, but I don't see anyone else but Vince to be making an album like this in my rotation right now. Listening to "Cry Baby" is quite a fun, contained adventure for the messaging and lyrics put into this record. The political messaging is on par and dangerously prevalent to find it difficult to know who or what Vince was really talking about ... read more

Evanescence - Sanctuary
77

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #35: June 5th (NEW MUSIC FRIDAY)
Today my music moment of the day will be a brand-new album that dropped from "Evanescence". I have slowly been putting this band and Amy Lee back into my rotation as I have missed their sound for a bit. Unfortunately though, with only a few tracks I like through the latter of this band's discography, it has been pretty much just their debut record. When the single "Who Will You Follow" dropped, I was very hyped ... read more

Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend
79

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #34: June 4th
Today is the 5-year anniversary of this "Wolf Alice" album, and through recommendation from a friend, I will give this dreamy indie rock album a try and see how I feel about it. I'm surprised I have never really heard of this band, as the tone and musical nature of this album seems right up my alley, and they seem to be a highly rated group. Since I am randomly dropping in the middle of their discography, I have no clear basis for the ... read more

死んだ僕の彼女 [my dead girlfriend] - hades (the nine stages of change at the deceased remains)
89

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #33: June 3rd
I will use this day to move out of my comfort zone from the usual review. I haven't done a non-English album at all yet, so I decided to start testing the waters with a Japanese rock/noise album from "[my dead girlfriend]. With the hint of shoegaze elements, I was worried I was not going to be a fan of the music on this record. My only true acknowledgement of the genre was through "my bloody valentine", and I was personally not a ... read more

Florence + the Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
87

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #32: June 2nd
When it comes to Florence and the Machine, I have only ever had very pleasant and exciting experiences. The first album I heard from this band was her debut, "Lungs", before her most recent album was released. After listening to "Everybody Scream", I honestly thought that record was a lot stronger than her debut. Funny enough, my third impression will now be the third record made, and might be my favorite of the bundle so far.

blink-182 - Enema of the State

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #31: June 1st
To start the month of June, I decided to listen to a slog of an album, apparently. This record has two fairly decent tracks surrounded by some very Stange and boring moments. "Adam's Song" and "Wendy Clear" feel like the best attempts good sounding music. I am not going to talk much about any of the other tracks, as I did not see anything worth speaking about. The lyrics feel very dated, and apart from sone drum lines or ... read more

The Maine - American Candy
85

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #30: May 31st
When The Maine released there new album this year, titled "Joy Next Door", it did not scratch the itch I wanted from this band, so I went back to there discography. While I am not a big fan of pop rock or The Maine themselves, "Lovely Little Lonely" and "American Candy" are both enjoyable albums I went back to listen to as a way to digest the new album in doses. Today, I will talk about "American Candy" and ... read more

yeule - Evangelic Girl is a Gun

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #29: May 30th
2025 was an absolute crazy year for music enjoyment. It was filled with so many amazing projects form returning artists I already loved, like Mac Miller, Quadeca, Haley Williams, Lorde, Saba and so many more, as well as being the year I opened myself up to the most amount of music possibly. Albums from Geese, Magdelena Bay, Olivia Dean , Ninajirachi, JANE REMOVER, ETHEL CAIN and so many others blew me away or gave me a new genre to have under my belt. ... read more

Circa Survive - On Letting Go
79

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #28: May 29th
This day gave us an absolute unpolished gem. "On Letting Go" was randomly discovered when the music video for "The Difference Between Medicine and Poison Is in the Dose" was recommended to me. When I heard this back in 2024, I was charmed and interested in Anthony Green's vocals as well the mix of hardcore and emo elements in the video and music. Needless to say, I was super interested in the album and when I initially listened ... read more

Azealia Banks - 1991
66

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #27: May 28th
This day brings a pretty quick review. This EP by Azealia Banks was on my list to listen to for a bit, since the blend of house and rap sounded like a fun combination. While this was a fun listen and I am a fan of the genres blending, I personally do not think I am a real fan of Banks sound. "Liquorice" is the only one of the 4 I will come back to, and even then, I think it will be sporadic. I feel the best way to describe this is fairly ... read more

Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
81

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #26: May 27th
This day will mark the true beginning of my Bob Dylan discography journey. I have had a lot of Dylan on my radar for some time at this points, and tracks like "Hurricane" and "Just Like A Woman" keep popping up in my rotation quite a lot. My parents hold performers like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Billy Joel in very high regard. Albums I have glanced at by Dylan have been very promising, and I wanted a reason to divert my attention to ... read more

A$AP Rocky - AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP
89

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #25: May 26th
On this day of music moment, we go back to listen to my favorite A$AP Rocky album. His debut album "LIVE.LOVE.A$AP" was a very good introduction and has his best songs, but this album flushes out his sounds and the psychedelic rap genre better than his previous works. The production and the dreamy, layered beats and samples give an extremely chilled listening experience, one of my favorites to enjoy in the moment. After listening to ... read more

Pusha T - DAYTONA
80

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #24: May 25th
This music moment of the day is a fairly quick review this time around. After the amazing rollout of "Let God Sort Em Out", I was super interested in hearing the older stuff of Clipse, Pusha T and Malice. After listening to "Hell Hath No Fury" I moved to Pusha's discography and started with the quickest record as first listen. This hardcore, gangster rap is one of my favorite subgenres for the productions and rhyme schemes.

twenty one pilots - Clancy

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #23: May 24th
Today was a greatly anticipated day for me. After the somewhat apathetic tragedy that was "Scaled and Icy", my favorite music duo was coming back with something to "end" the Trench/Dema era of this band's legacy. While Twenty-One Pilots has been my favorite duo since "Vessels" released, I tend to decline when I am offered the time to go back to any album before "Trench" at this point. Still, plenty of great ... read more

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
89

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #22: May 23rd
While this is not the first rapper I listened too when I was younger, this is the first rap I listened to. As a fairly long fan of Eminem, this is the middle of the trilogy that was Eminem in his prime, and sadly no album since "The Eminem Show" has given me the same amount of enjoyment or replay ability. There have been plenty of moments in his career that I do like a lot, but thematically most of his albums do not hold up to his early ... read more

Diana Ross - Diana
65

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #21: May 22nd
On this day in music moments, we go back to the end of an era. By 1980, disco was not quite as popular as it was but still had a sizeable following in pop culture. This album is no different, as "Diana" brings a more Pop-Esque quality of the usual disco genre. I am sure there were pop dance albums before this, and as records like this go, all the tracks were quite upbeat (with the exception of "Friend to a Friend").
This was ... read more

Radiohead - OK Computer
85

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #20: May 21th
"OK Computer" was an album on my radar for a very long time and finally was given the opportunity to listen to this album and see where all the hype is. This album was made during the turn of the digital age, and Radiohead used this record to show their feelings about the world garnering such mass accessibility. While this was an amazing innovation, it was also giving a sense of meaningless capitalistic tendencies and emotional disconnect ... read more

Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape
85

THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #19: May 20th
For this music moment today, we go to my favorite Foo Fighter album. When the band released their newest album, "Your Favorite Toy", I was more drawn back to this record than I did enjoy what the new album had to offer. This sophomore album is a lot better than Foo Fighters debut. There are a lot of highlights, and the songs work really well at showcasing the emotions the members, especially Grohl were going through. This record can be seen ... read more
