THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #19: May 20th
For this music moment today, we go to my favorite Foo Fighter album. When the band released their newest album, "Your Favorite Toy", I was more drawn back to this record than I did enjoy what the new album had to offer. This sophomore album is a lot better than Foo Fighters debut. There are a lot of highlights, and the songs work really well at showcasing the emotions the members, especially Grohl were going through. This record can be seen ... read more

For today, I am choosing a random album from surfing the internet, and I stumbled upon this record that had some popular reviews, so decided to give it a listen. Overall, the records reviewed I've listened to a few times, but this will be an initial listen and impression to this record, not quite a through as how I usually been interpreting records before.
This album sounded very nostalgic, with some interesting parallels to artists like ... read more

This day in history brings us to the final album of the band The Brobecks, titled "Violent Things". This album was recommended to me by a friend who was happy into his discovery of "I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME". The man driving force of this band was the lead singer, Dallon Weekes, who ended the band shortly after this record to join the occulted, "Panic! at the Disco". I was not interested in either band ... read more

This day brings us the quintessential disco album, "Random Access Memories". As Daft Punks final album, it takes its moments to bring the characters of the duo back to a nostalgic sound. This album bleeds late 70's and 80's dance and hall music, with the infusion of robotic, futuristic verses and features that gave the album the edge to be one of the most interesting listening experiences I have had as a first encounter. I never ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #15: May 16th
As we reach May 16th, we are bestowed a classic album that will stand the test of time of being one of the best albums from the 60's. Under the creative direction of Brian Wilson, "Pet Sounds" uses very progressive and glittery instrumentals to showcase not just love, but a sadness of coming of age and growing into your own. As this album is coming on 60 years old, this is perhaps the oldest record I know front to back. If there was ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #14: May 15th
When this album came out, we were in the peak of our Covid quarantine, and I was personally trapped away from home. This album coming out less than a year after her highly acclaimed record, "Charli", was quite the starstruck moment for that time. Before this album released, "claws" came out as the lead single, and I was very happy to hear this sound come from Charli. After it dropped, "how I'm feeling now' became ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #13: May 14th (Spotify says November for some reason? pls fix your dates Spotify...)
Today in music moments, I am listening to something a bit out of my usual range of music tastes. While I am a fan of boom bap and experimental hip hop, the underground scene of hip hop can be a can of worms that feels almost impossible to digest. I feel the most underground I really interacted with was early MF Doom and some Aesop Rock projects. So as this day came along, seems ... read more

For this musical moment, I go back to the first Kendrick Lamar album I fully listened to. I knew of the highlights from throughout his career, and I already had the assumption he was one of the best, given his fanbase and high praise. I did not fully get behind his music at that moment, as he wasn't part of casual listening vibe. Funny enough, he is likely the rapper I listen to the most now. When "Damn" came out, I was not really a fan ... read more

In this day of music moments, we take a look at the debut of someone who is perhaps my favorite female artist to date at this point. Upon uncovering Ethel Cain recently, I have been glued to her music like an incurable heartache, much how a lot of her music is. "Perverts" was actually the first real project I heard from her, but I did know of "Crush" off of her "Inbred" EP beforehand, just never gave her a real chance. ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #10 : May 11th
This day was a special day in music moments. Gorillaz dropped their second studio album, and blew away the expectations of the previous, self-titled debut album. "Demon Days" was made as an attempt to unravel the thoughts and feelings Albarn and Hewlett had in an uncertain, dark and treacherous world they found themselves in. The language and topics of the songs display the heavy political messaging, not just in terms of post-9/11 war ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #9: May 10th
Today in music moments I went with a random album I found that users seemed to enjoy. This album, called "Burst Apart" was quite an interesting listen. I was not put on "The Antlers" radar until then, and most reviews stated they enjoyed the previous album, "Hospice", more. I feel I get the pleasure of listening to this album before the predecessor to have a more unbiased reaction to it and maybe see if I want to listen to ... read more

For this music moment today, we will look at the latest album of the beloved Kali Uchis, titled "Sincerely,". This was the first full album of Uchis's I listened to and is some of the best neo-soul I have listened to. While her vocals have always been amazing, but to be forefront and center of every song was more enthralling than I thought it would be. As an album, all the songs flow so well into each other, telling the story of a ... read more

In this day of music moments, we go to a fairly recent mixtape. I did not know of Snow Strippers until I heard "So What If I'm A Freak" randomly and was very excited to hear more from them. Luckily for me, this EP dropped only a few days after I heard the lead single, so my expectations did not have to be high. After coming back to this project from letting it settle in my mind for about a year, coming back to this for the review still ... read more

When this project was presented to me, I honestly did not know it existed until about 3 months ago. MF Doom was in my rotation, and I already have good memories of Madvillainy and some of his more notable singles, I did not he had another project with CZARFACE nearly half a year after his unfortunate passing. While it was bittersweet listening to this album, I was never a huge fan of MF Doom, so the music was not as nostalgic as it would be to some. ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #5: May 6th (Spotify says it was released on May 1st for some reason, but Wiki and AOTY says today so I will stick with the site)
This music moment of the day brings us the year 1968, when the coveted Outlaw Country Icon Johnny Cash released a live studio album with the crowd comprising of inmates at Folsom Prison, making for quite a captivating listen. You hear Cash's enthusiasm to the crowd that is very loud and lively for him. Goes to show a very memorable ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #4 : May 5th (AOTY says the release date is May 5th, but I have read other dates and I am entirely sure it was today, but I will go by what this site has displayed,)
This musical moment of the day will bring us to a sound that has quite the unique position in time. This album being acoustic in the mid 60's is quite interesting, given that Chicago was big on the more electronic "Delta Blues" prior to this, giving way to the rock and metal influences to ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #3 : May 4th
Happy Star Wars Day everyone, and this music moment will bring us back to the end of the 20th century. The 4th Star Wars film has been sent to the public, and the iconic soundtrack of John Williams score fills the theaters. This was the first Star Wars film I saw as a child, so it seems pretty telling that this would end up being my first movie soundtrack review. Time to enjoy some nostalgic instrumentation and see if Phantom Menace holds up as a ... read more
THIS DAY OF MUSIC MOMENT #2 : May 3rd
This day brings to the band Fall Out Boy, as there 2005 release of "From Under the Cork Tree" is the album the catapulted this band into the top ranks of pop punk classics of the 2000's, but does it still hold up as one of the classics?
Ignoring the rating I gave already, it's pretty clear that this album was going to standout to anything FOB (Fall Out Boy) had released prior. I was put on the band in an impactful way by a friend who ... read more

Intro:
With how obsessed I am with music and its art, and with how often I lurk AOTY, it's surprising I haven't tried to review anything on this site. Given that information, I am going to try and do something fun to keep me engaged.
Music is a constant in my life, with songs and albums being played every day, with dozens being made/released the same day, so this journey will be an attempt to highlight the best or my favorites of any given day, ... read more
