Even if i think its slightly dragged on, this album is really pretty. Her vocals are really addicting with this pop feel with instruments coming through really nicely. Really catchy choruses during this whole thing that brought a smile to my face. Amazing percussion bits with flutes and some horns here too. Great album and especially for a 1968 release.
Such an amazing album that is so consistent. Amazing usage of drums, flutes and horns with his beautiful voice that really brings me in. It excels so well with melodies and greater moments like the horns blasting in "Right On" that bring you back to life. It's so easy to get lost in the flow of this music with how thought out these structures of music are used. It never dips and only rises in musical greatness over this already amazing feel in this album. It's a great album ... read more
I have been missing out on so much GREAT music. I was ugly sobbing by the last two songs with the devastating lyricism with these BEAUTIFUL horns in the back. Probably just the download i got but some of the song transitions cut off weirdly but they were still gorgeous. His vocals are so great and have so much emotion poured into them into just this 32 minute album that I feel like i missed out on so much greatness. Amazing instrumentation with pianos and strings that bring out his addicting ... read more

Very strong lyricism with these mind-fucks of an instrumental from Zach Hill and his drum usage of samples. Emotional segments with his vocal usage is insane with these concepts. Mindless sex to emotional segments, this disc of this album does incredibly well with it's material. Incredible work with the first segment, and I know it will only get more abstract with the next segment.

Fuck FL Studio. Great mixing of these abrasive and noisy sounds along with incredible melodies. So much happens in majority of this album its hard to track down certain bits i really loved. Did lose most of that steam in the last 2 songs, mostly due to the lack of variety and the stretched song lengths after so much content. I did like that joke and queen, call that balatro line though. Does need a couple relistens for the first 9 songs in this thing. So much to chew on with how many parts are ... read more
Wow. Really pretty vocals with soft guitars that felt really charming. Great beginning and great ending to this. The middle of this felt a bit off, with the title track feeling a bit weird with the build-up that didn't add much. Loved the adding of electric guitars that added a nice haze to this album. Songs didn't run on for too long, in fact they sometimes felt to short with how lovely they can sound. Some of the harmonies with guitar chords and vocals can feel so amazing, ... read more
GREAATTTTT stuff. Loved the dramatic feels of "Their Helicopters' Sing" to the overwhelming build ups and different segments of "We Drift Like Worried Fire." Haunting drone that feels like this barren landscape that is really well done. Heartbreaking strings with these angry guitars that mix so well for a 53 minute runtime. Amazing use of sound from GYBE every single time.
I liking this softer approach to music with drug bug compared to something like Willy Rodriguez. Still carrying these longer progressions with thoughtful lyricism but having a more hazy feel rather than the noise-pop of something from "wetdream." I should probably be perceiving this album in it's own regard outside of music made from Willy Rodriguez but the influence I feel gives this more energy. These stronger guitars to really well made emotional moments like in ... read more
Tasteful. I think good use of breaks and guitar usage. I zoned out a little during this but honestly still really enjoyed the energy here. Guitars felt very alive in "summer rain" and was musically used well for a 5 minute run time. Very nice.

Can feel slightly dragged out in song lengths but with how tastefully wide guitars and vocals can feel i think it makes up for it. Softer guitar parts like the end of "our naked legs" that actually worked really well after this EP. Loved the energy in most of this EP too. Well done.

I am a bit sick when listening to this but everything should be fine. Letterstoyou's musical expansion is only getting better with each release. The softer section in "enraptured in a kiss" was really beautiful. Loud blast beats and guitar usage in "an excuse to run away" also feels so amazing. Vocals feel a lot more brutal and diverse and i really love it here. Short runtime but feels really well put with the length of each song. Loved the blasting drums, loved guitar ... read more
I dont like it. Im bored with most of the same subject matter hes been talking about for 5 albums now. Simpler productions that can sound above par like in "SACRAMENTO 12 STEP" but his voice and just general feeling of being this deep into an album that feels tiring makes anything positive outclassed. Dragged out songs with either repeating choruses that aren't needed or annoying experimentation like in DADS BED. I don't want anymore hobo johnson in my life.
When art is dumbed down to this fencesitting between self-satire and social commentary, nothing gets done. Use of comedy to try and make any of this sensible is futile. The only reason "Why Socialism by Albert Einstein (edited for length)" gained points for me is because of insight Einstein actually had compared to Johnson's confusing addons between sections being read aloud. Using a satirical voice to... make fun of himself? To add commentary on how socialism is ... read more
Very interesting. Wasn't expecting this when listening but was definitely a nice treat. Kept my attention and felt longer than the runtime with how busy some of these songs can feel when listening. Unfortunately can be tuned out a bit too easily and some concepts can feel a bit weaker in songs but I still think its very fair overall. Fun listen here.
Powerful piece. Great usage of guitars from these slow chords like in Neighborhood Blues or much faster ones in Life and Times on the Beach. Vocal performance was used very well with this nice timbre over such emotional lyrics. Obviously the whole subject matter hasn't had a full impact on me with only one listen but I enjoyed the presentation. Small story-telling bits that felt really well made and fit very nicely with song lengths. Even with a 55 minute runtime this album felt very short ... read more
ughhhhhh addicting. Love the consistency of electro elements but still keeping in great experimentation. The (i think) harpsichord in Tetra and abrasive sound in Motor that was so interesting to have here. Such a fun listen with interludes keeping up the energy into even better bits. Fast paced stuff that can sadly make parts forgettable but the energy lingers so well. Amazing even if i think it drags on just a hair in the last 10 minutes of the album runtime.
Fine. Felt somewhat boring as an album listen but would be fine a live performance. Hooks and choruses present felt very hit or miss on how re-playable they felt with each repetition. Vocal style was fine and grew better as more songs played on. Instrumentals were good and interesting throughout. A main offender of a bad chorus would be the one in Geez louise with how the vocals felt every time it repeated. Subject matter discussions felt okay but had weird parts to it in it's song ... read more
They reinvented art. Not a huge fan of the whispers during the first song but it got a lot better with the wall of noise slowly swallowing the piece whole. Great usage of low bass noise with these distortions on top. That crazy (i think) guitar at 15 minutes in "Heartbeat Is the New Rhythm" almost made me cry. Great great stuff and didn't linger for too long for the runtime of this full project. More noise to enjoy and wow it feels amazing in a full listen.

Shoutout to music, its great really. Honestly got me more into Hyperpop with this distinct vocal style. Loved the off beat work with these loud and amazing electronic elements. Great energy throughout and is a real gem for only 28 minutes of runtime. Some were a bit weaker than others but I really enjoyed the highs here. Great work here.
