Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine
NR

Sparkling and clean pop music. Her iconic voice gives the music character and an enjoyable playfulness (e.g. holding the 'n' in 'and' on 'yes, and?'). It gave the music so much power. I enjoyed when the infectious and bright dance pop songs contrasted with personal lyrics. I particularly enjoyed 'the boy is mine' and 'yes, and?'.

Yirinda - Yirinda
NR

Exciting and odd brain tickling music. It has a magical folky sound that combines with traditional Australian traditional music for a beautiful sound. I love how it also mixes with modern production to create something so unique e.g. electronics on 'Yunma (Sleep)' and the immediate buzzy sound that cuts through on the 2nd track after the beautiful sunrise of the first track. It's left turns are so cool! It has a mantra-like uplifting and earthy quality to it emphasising the blossoming melodies. ... read more

Loris S. Sarid - Wood, Metals, Clay, Glass, Plastic, Fabric, Paint, Grass
NR

Experimental one track fun! There is something magical serene and peaceful about it. Its slow ambient transitions are gorgeous and relaxing. It is like ripples on a peaceful pool. Gorgeous! And it all feels like one song.

Everything Everything - Mountainhead
NR

Very poppy and hooky cheery indie pop. I love the electronic feel of it immediately set out by shifting vocal manipulations. The way they warm the sound with heartwarming chorusses is exciting, comforting, and gives a nostalgic sound (e.g. guitar on the chorus of 'Wild Guess'). They have a knack for cathartic, larger than life, and fun music - This is emphasised by funny and odd lyrics (e.g. 'The Mad Stone'). It is one of their brightest and snappiest albums so far. I particularly enjoyed 'Wild ... read more

DJ Sneak - The Son of Chicago
NR

This house music is funky and groovy. The smaller snippet-y samples combine with a project-consistent techno beat for a smooth, front-footed, and bright sound. It has a classic retro feel with it's 909 cymbals appearing on tracks. The snippety sampling makes for some creative and addictive grooves (e.g. 'Sacrifice Yourself'). It is impossible not to move along to this music. Lovely stuff.

Friko - Where we've been, Where we go from here
NR

There is something cozy about this release. I love how simple the melodies were, it made the LP catchy and sweet. Contrasting this with explosions of loud rocky sections with a serious bite (e.g. angsty whining guitars on 'Crashing Through') and sweet intimate tracks (e.g. christmassy soft sung 'Until I'm With You Again') means the rawness and vulnerability in the music becomes the album's beating heart. It is a heartwarming and human sound based in indie rock and art rock. A welcome addition ... read more

aya - Lip Flip
NR

Creative loose electronic music. Its patchwork-y wonky sound adds an exciting and disorienting quality to the music, with grooves taking time to assemble e.g. the reveal of the 'Essente!' chorus. It gives the odd music an unearthly feel - allowing it to explore a wide variety f textures - e.g. the different kinds of percussive hits on 'Dexxy Is A Midnight Runner'. I particularly enjoyed 'Dexxy Is A Midnight Runner' and 'Lip Flip'.

Confucius MC And Pitch 92 - Stop Signs
NR

This lovely chilled out jazzy rap has an easy going vibe. I love how effortless it makes the rapping sound. I also enjoyed the turntable record scratching sound, it meant that the tracks could maintain a simplistic feeling without being boring or repetitive - e.g. 'Loneliness In The City'. I particularly enjoyed 'Maintenance', 'Loneliness In The City', and 'BlueSkies'.

Loving - Any Light
NR

Chill and serene indie pop. This is the type of music that makes you want to take a relaxing large out breath. The combination of the slow tempos, sad guitars and small but sweet singing made for very relaxing and pretty music. I particularly enjoyed 'Any Light', 'Medicine', and 'Ask Directions'.

Toechter - Epic Wonder
NR

The glitchy and epic combination stuttering electronics, soft and cooling electronic soundscapes, and striking violin work. It also adds intimate vocals that thaws the other colder elements. These songs feel like magic spells. I love the odd grooves throughout the album (e.g. clockwork repetitions and shuffles on 'Shift Souls'). I particularly enjoyed 'Shift Souls' and 'Mercury'.

Clown Core - live
NR

The unique aesthetic of Clown Core can only be described by listening. The unpredictable and singular series of noisy left turns makes for fun and hyperactive music. I love how playful it is! I particularly enjoyed 'Computers'.

Yeat - 2093
NR

The dark futuristic rage and trap beats are incredibly futuristic and have a neon sound to it that reminded me of Spiderverse music (e.g. synth and what sounds like a laser sound in 'Shade'). It is incredibly direct and catchy and combines this with attuned emotive vocals that fit perfectly with the instrumentals. It also has incredible pacing! I particularly enjoyed 'Breathe', 'Bought The Earth', 'Lyfestylë', 'Shade', and 'Stand On It'.

Kali Malone - All Life Long
NR

This rich droning, ambient, and choral work is incredibly rich. Its use of rounds is awesome! It feels like the music is being woven together as melodies overlap. Combining this with the subtle dissonance in the organ work (which sounds beautiful) makes for a magical and expansive atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed 'Slow of Faith', No Sun To Burn (for Organ)', 'All Life Long (for Voice)', and 'Moving Forward'.

Mỹ Anh - Em
NR

Smooth and silky R&B. Its super poppy and polished. It is casual and light at the same time, making for very inviting and easygoing music (e.g. minimal bass-y sounds in 'Ở Đây Lúc Này'). It was a sweet listen. I particularly enjoyed 'Chẳng Thể Né Tránh'.

Declan McKenna - What Happened to the Beach?
NR

This summery fun indie pop album has a lovely sound! It was really cool when the songs fell apart a bit 'Nothing Works' It added an interesting and engaging quirky quality consistent through the album. This made it a playful and bright listen. I particularly enjoyed 'I Write The News', "Mulholland's Dinner and Wine', 'Nothing Works', and 'It's An Act'.

chazaiya - Wake up and smell the petrichor
NR

The rainy day radio station vibe is so cozy! The amount of comfort and emotion put into these lovely instrumental beats makes for such a warm listen. It's lo-fi and mellow vibe is complemented by exciting sample work adding a brightness to the music. It also keeps a fast moving pace with a lot of short but well connected tracks. I really enjoyed listening! I particularly enjoyed 'Grass', 'Someday', 'Watcha', 'How Many Times / Winds Above', 'Always New', and 'Ray'.

James Blake - Playing Robots Into Heaven (Endel Focus Soundscape)
NR

Adding the reverb and slower pace to a few tracks off of this stunning album and extending them, allows you to swim through the music. It is so lovely and hypnotic. I found the futuristic atmosphere quite relaxing. I loved how there were new grooves to explore in each track! I particularly enjoyed the Fall Back reworks!

Louie Zong - RAT TAXI
NR

Upbeat and bright funky jazz! The added electronics and chip-tune sounds (e.g. 'DUMPSTER DISCO') made for energetic and bouncy racks. A really fun and charming listen. Some really cool melodies and grooves. I would definitely recommend going on a trip in the RAT TAXI!

Maria W. Horn - PANOPTIKON
NR

The combination of drone and choral music makes for a massive and expansive sound. It's a good mix of ominous and beautiful. It is quite hypnotic, as large ambient droning sections go by before being reminded of the vocals in the album e.g. the whispered vocals as a closer to a largely ambient track. It has a numbing quality (electronic sweeping tone on 'Panoptikon') emphasising the warmth of the choral vocals.

21 Savage - american dream
NR

This trap release has an inviting vulnerability (e.g. 'Dark Days'). It has a clear sound and very snappy beats. I liked the ones with a shorter loop - it added an exciting energy to the music (e.g. 'Redrum'). The contrast with more inwards lyrics made for layered music. It all has a very natural sound. I particularly enjoyed 'All Of Me', 'Letter To My Brudda', and 'Dark Days'.
