ODD EYE CIRCLE - <Version Up>
NR

Another serving of heavenly pop from ODD EYE CIRCLE. This K-pop is instantly gripping with it's tasteful production, it posses a light floating quality - putting me in a trance ('Je Ne Sais Quoi'). It starts by sampling and reminding you of their past EP and doesn't disappoint from there. The 'dance-y' tracks have fun hooks sung with endless charisma ('Air Force One'). This is music to strut to. It's just an addictive and fun listen.

fromis_9 - Unlock My World
NR

Very springy K-pop. The vocals are sweet and compliment the beats. I liked how this LP had a dance-y tone. The whole album built a lovely and happy vibe. I particularly enjoyed 'Prom Night'.

RealYungPhil - Victory Music
NR

Light and interesting rap with a laid back flow over minimal and eerie beats. This stripped back sound made for a clear and effective LP. I particularly enjoyed 'I'm Not Them'.

Balmorhea - Pendant World
NR

This modern classical release is filled with interesting plodding melodies and a light and jazzy atmosphere to contrast. I found the swirling piano helped set the tone of the album, and Sam Gendel's warbled saxophone additions were perfect! I particularly enjoyed 'Step Step Step' and 'Desiderium'.

M. Sage - Paradise Crick
NR

This interesting and soothing album is like a warm soup made from field recording of everything that makes you calm. It's like a watercolour painting. It is a very pretty and pleasant listen. I like how all of the textures overlapped and I found the looseness of the ambience relaxing.

Varg²™ - 10 år av skog, natt & stjärnor
NR

This dark and moody heavy ambient techno has simplistic grooves and a satisfying compression. The atmosphere is so visual on here (e.g. 'I en oändlig sorg / Jörn')! The beats seem to slightly distort the music on some of the tracks in a way that adds depth and character to the groove. A very hypnotic listen. I particularly enjoyed 'Periferin (Till A.B, E.K, S.E) Vila i frid P, R, M', 'I en oändlig sorg / Jörn', and 'Hold ud t ft. Vanity Productions'.

Swans - The Beggar
NR

This is menacingly patient. It has a reflective and final tone to it. The simplicity of the music is intense. This Swans album is a continuation of their linear post-rock sound I enjoyed the more stripped back tracks, this made the second disc even more powerful. The album has an enjoyable subtle depth and darkness, where the same stomach churning feelings associated with the bands' sound are achieved, but with less cacophonous walls of sound - except for the second disc... SHINee - HARD
NR

This K-pop does indeed go hard! I like the genre variation on here, the consistent knack for melody makes this a very poppy listen. The production is very lush and focussed. Their voices fit seamlessly into this project. The R&B cuts show how clean and impressive their voice sounds. The LP flew by! I particularly enjoyed 'Satellite' and 'Insomnia'.

Emile Mosseri - Heaven Hunters
NR

I am a huge fan of the Minari soundtrack, so I was really looking forward to this! This has the same simplistic and incredibly emotive approach - creating warming music that feels like a summery field. This is less focussed however, often trying on new sounds. The singing has a complementary softness but takes focus away from the instrumentals. I love how careful and considered the swells are (e.g. 'Home For The Summer').

Eva Lunny - Sonics & Meditations
NR

Very pretty ambience. It soft and sparkly tones are relaxing and deep. It was like hearing twinkling constellation of stars. I particularly enjoyed 'Improvised Lullaby'.

Christof Migone & Alexandre St-Onge - undoundone
NR

This abstract release is packed with interesting noises. It feels like a collection of heightened sounds, with loudness, texture, and juxtaposition emphasising the feeling of it. Listening to this album is like going through your day but as your brain and skipping to every sound that caught your attention in some way. It is scratchy, unpredictable and incredibly varied.

Squid - O Monolith
NR

I love the sound of this band! The noisy textures they bring to their music makes for very exciting songs. It has a wobbly sense of chaos. This feeling is emphasised by the singer's expressive squeaky and punky delivery. The way the songs build and chug is menacingly nervous. The instrumentals have great power due to their sharp and spiny guitars and thick bass guitar. Clunky, dark, and artsy grooves are explored on this album. A dense and twisting journey.

Dudu Tassa & Jonny Greenwood - Jarak Qaribak
NR

What a stunning genre melting pot! This album combines spindly drum machines and sparing electronics with Middle Eastern instrumentation and Jonny Greenwoods' crooked and winding guitar playing. The result is beautiful! The groovy music circles and cycles in your head. By drawing from so many different styles, they create a very interesting and engaging album. I love how each track framed a different singer. It was cool having each singer introduced - effectively setting the scene. The vocals ... read more

Brayden Potts - 4ever
NR

Easily their softest and most understated release so far. The beats are less disorienting, and the samples are very smooth. This creates an enjoyable emotional tone emphasised by slower synths adding to the track. Wonderful instrumentals. I particularly enjoyed 'smiling, again', '4ever', 'flow', 'ray', and 'untitled54'.

Lisel - Patterns For Auto-Tuned Voices And Delay
NR

A very accurate title. A very enjoyable album too! I loved the mechanical and unearthly vocal manipulations. It's ambient and minimal tones make for loose and beautiful music. Very clear and interesting. Everything was used sparingly - there was a good amount of quiet which brought even greater detail to the songs.

파란노을 [Parannoul] - After the Night
NR

I really enjoyed hearing these live renditions of Parannoul songs. It made the songs feel bigger and more electric. I liked how noisy it got at points. Of course the bittersweet melodic shoegaze is as warm as ever. I particularly enjoyed '아름다운 세상 (Beautiful World)', '아날로그 센티멘탈리즘 (Analog Sentimentalism)', 'Imagination', and 'Into the Endless Night'.

Metro Boomin - METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (SOUNDTRACK FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE)
NR

The spider-verse movies are very cool, and that is reflected in their soundtracks. It's poppy trap is so listenable and enjoyable. The combination of futuristic and spacey beats ('Annihilate') with emotional depth ('Hummingbird') makes for comforting headphone music. I also liked how some of the cinematic elements seeped into here, opening up the songs. I think what carries the album is the clear, warm and inviting production - In a massive superhero soundtrack, it cleverly leaves a lot of ... read more

John Roseboro - Johnny
NR

Delicate, hushed, and personal Bossa nova (this genre excellently frames the writing). The emotional and soft vocals add a wonderful and magical feeling to the music. It feels incredibly human and present due to it's intimate sound. There is no clutter. It's being open and warm. And that makes this album soothing and comforting. I really enjoyed listening. I particularly enjoyed 'Fetal Position', 'The Empress', 'The Banquet', 'I Took The L', 'Topo Chico', 'Gethsemane', and 'Hahaha'.

Ervin Omsk - SCHMALSTER POINT
NR

This release looks like it sounds. It's oily, squeaky, and glitchy noises are unpredictable and result in alien soundscapes. The music is disorienting and quirky (I enjoyed the cat sounds on 'Buntes Auge')! The brief musical blips gave the music a jumpy feeling. I particularly enjoyed 'Gwieft Wie die Koyoten'.

CHANCE デラソウル - Whateversides
NR

Super groovy future-funk and chip tune. I enjoyed it's interesting samples ('Heya'). An upbeat neon listen. I particularly enjoyed 'Whatever Man', 'Let's Make It'.
