Venom - Into Oblivion

Two metal bands in the same year drop the same-titled album? Coincidence? I think not, haha jk ofc but I'll share a personal story here, my band was looking for a bassist and the guy we were looking to recruit his fav band was Venom, who tfs fav band is Venom lmao? Anyway, we told him to fuck off for being a neo nazi and since the band endorses AI now as well, I am not going to think well of this at all, but I digress. 3 songs in and i cant be bothered for this, already so repetitive, got ... read more

URNE - Setting Fire To The Sky

Urne have been in the spotlight for a bit now, and from this release I don't think it's anything worth almost 300 reviews, to me this is just modern metalcore hardly sludge and hardly prog imo, its alright and gets the job done but is not interesting. Production is a little overdone with the drums and vocals but there are some nice-ish layering with it, meat and 'taters to me really.

Nothing less than absolutely harrowing, a strange step back from the masterpiece ‘hippie killer’

another one of Bongripper's classic pummeling stoner/doom/drone/sludge. Every single one of their albums smotheres you with the most gain-filled yet insanely clear guitar tone that chokes your ears with the volume and amazing repetitiveness, you really can't go wrong with Bongripper, im very happy Fantano picked this up and brought a bit of metal to the masses.

Thanks to @Kacper for the rec!
despite this album being top in the top 3 highest rated for behemoth fans i found that there wasnt a lot to chew when it came to each song, it felt alot like: decent openning riff - high tempo trigger blast beats at the same bpm for 2-4 mins - solo - end and it gets boring quickly, its definitly good blackened DM but im left wanting something else other than deafening blast beats for the majority of an album.
