It's weird to say this, but I don't think I've ever heard an album like this. I don't even know where I found this band in the first place, but that doesn't matter, I love this band.
This album (and band) has a weird mix of melodic death metal and eletronic that I thought I wouldn't enjoy, but they blend these two genres together perfectly, making it kind of sound like a better version of cyber metal.
With this odd mix, "Nebularium" also feels kind of ... read more
How is this considered as one of their better albums?? I can't even describe what I'm feeling, probably because it's so mediocre that it's bad. Because of "my previous experience listening to Six Feet Under", I really thought the vocalist was gonna be horrible, but they were just O.K at best, it's just the riffs are SOO dull. I have been listening to Opeth for a few months now, and honestly, I don't know what to think about them. I think their music is great and I can definitely see how people love Opeth, but I just don't think it's for me. It might be the continuous change in their songs, switching between rock and death metal which I don't really enjoy and can't quite get used to.
I actually didn't quite like this album - primarily because of the vocals. I'm not saying this is an overrated album by any means, the vocals just aren't doing it for me.
You can really hear his voice is declining, becoming more raspy. He also keeps doing the weird "screech" sound which I highly dislike. But the riffs are pretty well made, which is why I still think some good of it.
I don't enjoy the newer At The Gates much, however this one kind of blew me away. Nowhere as good as their first few, but this is definitely one of their best.
Rest in peace, Tomas Lindberg.
