For the most part ... "III" is a frequently unsatisfying effort from a band whose legend has outdistanced its music.
This album was and is criminally underrated by critics. This band coming back 12 years after the last albums critics did like, apparently, not having fallen apart from drug use or personality conflicts, and rocking this damn hard is honestly incredible. I thought this was better overall than the debut. There's no Stone the Crow but as a whole it's groovier and the riffs just feel more satisfying. Like the other 2 albums, it's kind of overlong. The 2 (?) slow ballad-y tracks could have been cut and not much would be lost in my opinion. It feels like trying to do the Pantera Planet Caravan thing but without a track as good as Planet Caravan.
