The Velvet Underground & Nico is undeniably a classic. Lyrically this album explores topics like drug use (in a very explicit way) which were considered taboo at the time it came out. The extremely raw production by Andy Warhol also adds to the unique vibe. The most impressive thing about this album has to be its huge influence on later music, especially by helping shape the punk genre. It might be a light 9, but The Velvet Underground & Nico is definitely a must-listen for every music ... read more
I feel like it‘s time to finally give metal my flowers. This album just feels otherworldly, it‘s like absurdly heavy. I also really appreciate the slow tempo of the Stoner/Doom sub-genre, it makes it feel even darker and more unsettling.
I could talk about this album for hours, I‘m so glad it finally released. I can confidently say that this already beats any album released in 2024 (that I know of). What makes me like Mac Miller as much as I do is mostly his relatability, he feels like a person I could actually be hanging out with, listening to his music makes it feel like he‘s a good friend that‘s unfortunately entangled in deep struggles. Considering the mental state Mac was in when he recorded this album ... read more
This isn’t just Conway at his best, it‘s also him at his most introspective and honest. From the production to the lyrics it‘s easily made clear that there is a lot of effort put into this record. Really really great, especially the title track. Definitely the best song I‘ve ever heard from any Griselda member.
This is supposed to be the newest entry in The Hitler Wears Hermes series?? He‘s a good rapper we know that but it‘s like 30% actual rapping plus this is only 15 minutes long..
I‘ve heard that LULU is a fan-favorite project from the Griselda universe. The rapping is great as usual, although it‘s really short and there isn‘t a track that really stands out to me.
Fun little concept album based on a cool idea. My problem with it is just its very short runtime that prevents the album from fully unfolding its concept. It feels more like a sketch unfortunately.
Macadelic is a very colorful mixtape with some high highs but also low lows. It also marks the point in Mac‘s discography where he started to get more introspective and conscious.
Best spiritual jazz album I‘ve ever heard. It takes you on a conceptual journey from acknowledging a higher power to totally determining yourself towards it to experiencing spiritual enlightenment. Love To God, A Love Supreme
I finally came back to this album after over a year of not listening to it. Wow. I think I never realized how beautiful Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers actually is. You can really see how much Kendrick‘s character grows over the course of this album, Auntie Diaries gave me goosebumps and Mother I Sober almost made me cry. Beautifully crafted album, it all comes full circle in the end.
Kendrick Lamar is back, and expectations are HIGH when something gets added to such a monumental discography as Kendrick‘s. There are some great ideas and lyrical depth while still paying homage to Kendrick‘s LA heritage on this album. Sometimes it feels a bit unfocused and incoherent, though, and the vocals often seem one-layered. Given that GNX is a surprise drop and also Kendrick‘s shortest studio album to date, the mixtape-like vibe works well overall and makes up for a ... read more
We get it bro you‘re from Toronto🙄🙄
Nah all jokes aside this album is really good. While it may feel a bit lengthy at times, most of the songs are great and it‘s honestly the best Drake has ever sounded.
I‘ve been listening to this album a lot since it came out in spring this year. The production is really clean and the songs are so enjoyable. Perfect to vibe out to
Listening to this album feels like a spiritual, promising, comforting but also very chaotic journey. I definitely recommend.
I‘m not even exaggerating, there are some peak musical moments on this album. For example, when the electric guitar sets in at the end of the first track, or when the chorus comes back in the middle of the last track. Not the most consistent album, but the highs are extremely high and the „lows“ aren‘t low at all.
What a beautiful album, somehow every song is so memorable in its own way. I like to compare this to BCNR‘s Ants From up There, whenever I search for an album similar to that, Funeral comes to mind. They have a very similar vibe
Holy Money didn‘t really click with me to be honest. It feels very empty and even unfinished in some way. It‘s their most varied album so far, but the ideas often don‘t feel fully realized.
