has some of my fugazi tracks, this album even was my favorite fugazi album at some point. but some tracks here and there have really unnecessary intros and a couple of the tracks themselves are also unnecessary in general. still, this has some of fugazi's catchiest hooks, noisiest moments blablabla. it just takes a bit to really sit with you. in general, its a really, really solid album that is unfortunately a bit messy. i cant help but love it though.
experiencing a lot of these songs live definitely improved them for me but still, its just good, decent. that is all. the last and first two songs stand out, i find the all other tracks to be extremely forgettable. most of the performers on this are very well talented and have good synergy but the vocalist does seem to be pushing his character a little too far on some performances here and there, sometimes it just doesnt sit well in that moment. still though, very solid record.
something about the charm first few albums leonard cohen released is a thing that i will never get from any other artist ever again. i loved the inclusion of more instruments and choirs on "songs of love and hate", i love that it's included even more here. i do feel like some parts of this is not the same leonard cohen i loved and cherished way earlier though, hence why my score is a bit lower on this compared to his other albums.
this is so fucking good actually, so easy to have on repeat without getting annoying after long periods of time in a day. the groove on the first track alone is good enough to make this so easy to play again and again.
