Little Simz - Lotus
90

Inspiring, introspective, focused - Lotus has it all. Little Simz', though hesitant, return to rap finds her on another near-perfect release. There are no misses on this record, and the final leg is a career highlight.

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day
93

Man On The Moon: The End Of Day is one of Hip-Hop's greatest examples of how to nail a debut studio album. Despite being a tracklist on the longer side, it remains concise and delivers consistently. Cudi also perfectly demonstrates his mastering of many different styles, from majestically-produced, psychedelic tunes such as "Sky Might Fall", to energizing, inspirational tracks such as "Cudi Zone", Kanye-esque rapping over samples like on "Make Her Say" and ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
89

Lamar showcases, once again, both his flawless flows and amazing lyrical performances on a diverse range of beautifully crafted beats. From club-bangers to soul-melting orchestral compositions, to one of the weirdest but oddly enjoyable beats showcase by the rapper (on "gnx"), to a straight up 2Pac sample, Kendrick does not miss on this album. He leaves fans with justified excitement for another innovative and infinitely-dissectible record on the horizon.

Travis Scott - UTOPIA
88

Utopia finds Scott in form, providing a record filled out with club bangers, psychedelic and melodic lofi beats, along with his signature trap style. The tracklist opens very strongly with pieces such as HYAENA, THANK GOD, MODERN JAM and MY EYES providing equally great listens despite their dissimilar soundscape. The project is lowered in quality by a few notable moments towards the tail end of the running order, including Rob49's TOPIA TWINS feature and the song K-POP.

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
88

Chromakopia builds on the innovative and creative musical elements brought to the table on records like IGOR and CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST with a precise and well-polished set of tracks. Its imperfections stand in the tracklist's slight lack of new ideas, and the fact that each individual track feels less diverse and memorable as seen on his other projects. Though this can definitely be named as one of Tyler's best lyrical performances on an album.
