I can’t lie, this album goes unbelievably hard. Mike kills every single one of these beats over a super consistent 11 tracks. I didn’t think Mike would fit over trap beats like this, but he goes absolutely stupid. Insane album
Fuck yall, this goes hard as shit, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Is it cluttered as hell? Yes. Does that stop me from banging my head whenever I hear a track like Party People or U Ain’t Him? Absolutely not. Hidden gem in Nellys catalogue
It’s pretty much just okay. It starts off well enough, with it being some pretty balanced pop rap. Near the end of the record however, the scales are tipped, and the album leans more pop than I would’ve liked, especially since it loses all of the funk and party vibes Nelly is known for.
It’s the typical Tory 2010s project. Very high highs when he actually decides to take his lyrical quality seriously, and very low lows when he attempts to auto croon or chase a hit. It’s a shame that there’s many lazily thrown in elements on a lot of these songs, because with a good amount of refinement, this could’ve been a very solid album
A Tory Lanez album that is 14 songs and still somehow manages to be over an hour long. The easiest recipe for disaster since Lil Wayne going into rock music.
Tory goes for a club aesthetic here with a pop rap sound, and it just sounds extremely basic. It feels very formulaic in every aspect, from the vocals, to the bars, to the features, to the goddamn repetitive beats. Couple bangers near the beginning and end of the tracklist but it’s overall very forgettable
One of Tory’s best albums in my opinion. The trap beats here flow nice and are filled with energy, and Tory matches that energy with his verses perfectly. The back half of the tape tends to drag a bit, but the first stretch of the tape has some of Tory’s biggest bangers
I don’t typically care for Tory’s older sound, but this is a decent example of what makes it unique to him. The production on the album, headed up by DJ Drama(minus the ad libs, which is a huge bonus) is the selling point here, with solid beats all around. Tory has pretty hit or miss performances, but if you’re a Tory fan it’s worth at least one listen
I find this tape to be insufferably boring. Tory’s voice honestly sounds really grating with this style and just gets on my nerves when he doesn’t commit to his common style of singing, and does this half committed nasally little croon. This is a half baked tape that did nothing to grab my attention
Take 11 songs here and you’ve got a solid album. ESPECIALLY the songs where he’s actually rapping his ass off and not trying to recreate Alone At Prom but with worse beats. The main problem here is the sheer length of the album, and the song lengths themselves. I don’t need to hear him sing for 8 minutes straight. It had potential to be a very solid project, but fell flat where it mattered most, to just be an okay album
While the duo attempts melodic tracks, not to mention when they go overboard on the trap metal as well, they lose me. When they find a happy medium, they are on top of their game, making straight bangers
I don’t necessarily think that releasing an album in the middle of a controversy is the right move to make, especially considering Tory had a genuine window to make his case heard, but decided to shit on Meg the entire album instead of focusing on his court case that he had a chance of winning to be honest with you. Controversy aside though, I’m just not all that big on the music anyways, but it isn’t helped by Tory harping about the incident for the entirety of the runtime. ... read more
I can’t really say anything different about this tape than I can for most other Gunna projects. It’s so damn uninspired and drags on for ages. I know I probably sound like a broken record, but this is getting to an unenviable point
You can definitely tell that Gunna hadn’t discovered any kind of a “signature sound” on this tape yet, because he’s really just throwing stuff at the wall to see what works. Spoiler alert, not a lot does
Birthed from the Covid quarantine era, two musical legends teamed up to give us a modern revitalization of soul and funk that goes toe to toe with soul records of the past. Every single song here just oozes confidence and groove, thanks to the soothing vocals from Bruno and pure swag and charisma from Anderson .Paak. This is one of the most fun albums you will ever listen to, as well as one of the most consistent projects of the entire decade across any genre.
There are some very obvious mixing and sound design flaws on this album, with tracks either being way too loud or the vocals being extremely muted. It could’ve been an easy fix, but it takes away from the experience all together. Despite that, it’s your typical background music Gunna tape, but it could’ve been at least a LITTLE bit better. Although, the mixing issues summarize the album as a whole, lazy
I mean… we get a solid song with Young Thug. Idk about the rest of the album though
