Kanye West - BULLY
65

After a hectic and typical confusing Kanye rollout, we finally get Bully. It’s definitely a step in the right direction for Kanye, mixing in his old chipmunk soul sound with some newer elements, but this doesn’t feel like a finished product. The mixing is an issue again, the songs run short on ideas and verses, and each song is way too short to feel like anything more than a demo. There are some actually pretty solid moments across the tracklist, but nothing that can equate to a ... read more

Young Thug - Slime Season 2
56

By far the worst of the original slime trilogy, this project just feels very cookie cutter and bland compared to the first installment. It runs for even more time with even less ideas, and it’s a big slog to push through

Meek Mill - Dreams Worth More Than Money
72

If the autocrooning and the Nicki Minaj features were dropped, then this would be possibly his best project. It’s still very solid, but there’s too many awkward moments that cover up the incredible highs this album has

Kodak Black - Lil B.I.G. Pac
49

The final track and the song with PnB featured are some of Kodaks better songs. The rest of this tape is extremely forgettable, and about as pleasant as that album cover

Meek Mill - DC4
62

The highs are fantastic, and contain some of Meeks best songs and biggest bangers. I wish this tape didn’t have as many lows as it did, because the project could’ve genuinely been something incredibly special

Mike WiLL Made-It - R3SET
59

This is a very hit or miss tracklist, with some unexpectedly decent songs, some disappointing features(J Cole I’m looking at you), and several handfuls of terrible bars. 2026 hasn’t had many bad or even mid projects so far, this falls into the mid category without a doubt

Jay Rock - Redemption
71

Jay Rocks attempt to appeal to the mainstream hip hop audience goes over pretty well, with some great personal rapping and solid features from TDE members and J. Cole. It leans into pop rap a bit too much for Rocks standards, but it’s a concise, full album experience that’s very enjoyable

Wiz Khalifa - Rolling Papers 2
60

I’ve said before that there’s some album that could’ve been really damn good had they been shorter, and this is potentially the poster boy for that stereotype. The middle to back end of this tape is loaded with bangers, but it’s so watered down by unneeded filler, especially near the beginning of the project. Big missed opportunity here by Wiz to recapture his mainstream spotlight

Young Thug - Beautiful Thugger Girls
76

This project is where Thugs melodic side truly begins to shine. He takes a lot of risks on this tape sonically, but when the right amount of effort is put into his performances and the production, it turns out really nice

The Weeknd - Echoes Of Silence
58

This album is Abel’s weakest and most overrated outing in my opinion. There’s not many new ideas on display to make up for the long runtime of each song, and it’s running on fumes from ideas set up for us from the other installments from the original trilogy. There’s still quality near the end, but it’s an overall slog

The Weeknd - Thursday
88

Very similar level of consistency to his first tape, with a lot of cool influences from many different genres. The overall song structures aren’t nearly as strong as HOB, but it’s still a fantastic RnB project with that same druggy vibe

E L U C I D - I Guess U Had To Be There
79

An album I didn’t really have any expectations for, but it delivered nonetheless. A solid outing with good rapping from E L U C I D, and some production ranging from solid abstract pieces to just flat out weird. Doesn’t have a huge amount of replay value, but it’s worth a few listens for the creative aspects alone

James Blake - Trying Times
98

You know the memed out scene from Breaking Bad where Jesse tries heroin and starts floating? Just insert that scene into this review and that encapsulates everything that I felt when I listened to this for the first time

Jack Harlow - Monica
81

I am incredibly shocked that Jack delivered one of his best albums here, with a jazz/RnB fusion sound that was completely unexpected and that I did not think would work in his favor. He proved wrong on this project however, showing off a Lee ear for LoFi Jazz production and solid, chill vibes. He’s not the greatest singer I’ve ever heard, but he does well enough. I do wish that the tracks themselves had a bit more substance and replay value overall, but this was a very surprising ... read more

The Weeknd’s first tape still holds up as one of his best projects ever. The atmosphere on this thing cannot be topped. The hazy vibes mixed with the dreamy production will make you float every single time. Incredible listen, and a phenomenal stat to one of the most legendary modern RnB/Synth Pop careers

The Weeknd - Dawn FM
94

I’ve been sleeping on this album for so long it’s honestly embarrassing. Every song here has marinated really well for me, and it all collides into a no skip tracklist with an amazing atmosphere. This is one of the best synth pop albums of the decade, and contains one of the most nostalgic songs of the early 2020’s for me, in Less Than Zero. This album makes you want to sit back and smile at all of the memories you have made

The Weeknd - Kiss Land
80

Although the tracks themselves may suffer from being a bit bloated, Abel crafts a great introduction to the mainstream audience through his debut studio LP. The album is produced incredibly well, and it is filled with the signature Weeknd charm and vocals. Underrated project

Young Nudy - Anyways
81

Nudy proves that he doesn’t need Pierre making his beats to make an album full of hits, as he is still on his A game on his big studio LP debut. Another fine project in the consistent flow that Nudy has mastered

T.R.U. & 2 Chainz - No Face No Case
41

I really can’t say much about this one. I appreciate 2 Chainz for trying to shout out his fellow label mates, but I feel like he kept his label stuck in the mud with this half asses project

LAUSSE THE CAT - The Mocking Stars
100

I got recommended this by a friend, and I didnt expect anything from this initially because I’ve never heard of lausse the cat. I am excited to tell yall that I am absolutely floored right now. Every element of this record is fluid, smooth, and so damn fun. It is one of the smoothest records I have heard in a long time, thanks to the incredible jazz instrumentation and the signature soft spoken vocals of Lausse. This really is one of the U.K.s biggest hidden gems
