Such a cool Fusion album. It's just filled with so much joy and you can not not smile when you listen to something like "Midnight Rendezvous". The great, crisp late 70s Fusion production is here and delivers once again, the performances are top-notch and the songwriting is great as well. My stand-outs are "Space Road" and "Midnight Rendezvouz" but there are so many great tracks here. "Time Limit" is another extremely tight jam with amazing solos and ... read more

What a sweet album with equally sweet lyrics.
I love the atmosphere on this, that psych folk sound. The two long song are amazing but the individual parts feel a bit disjointed. Because of that, I would probably point at "The Prisoner" as my favorite, that one is just jam-packed with great ideas. "Song to Comus" is another stand-out. I like the production and its experimental nature, but the sound quality is not the very best. The playing is great though and I really adore ... read more
Pink Moon is a wonderful album.
I never listened to any Folk, I always thought of it as pretty bare and one-dimensional. But I have to say, and I'm glad, that Nick Drake opened my eyes to this lush exploration of emotion and sound that is Folk. With only a guitar and his voice, Drake achieves a level of greatness other artists only wish they could - it's pretty fascinating.
But I would lie if I said that this album was flawless. There are some songs that just can't hold up with ... read more
I went to the BC,NR concert this tuesday so I figured I should finally review this album!
It's great. While not on par with Ants From Up There, the two aren't really to be compared anyway.
What I really love about Forever Howlong are the rich and creative arrangements that aren't totally overblown. The mixing is very good but the mastering is pretty stinky. Compared to the dynamic master of AFUT, this is kind of sad. It definitely makes the aforementioned arrangements less ... read more
Random short review alert
I really like this album, and it was a blast revisiting it, but there are just too many weak moments that I cannot rate it higher.
Look, the first five tracks are great, but at least after "A Place for My Head", the album really falls off. What I love about the album though, are the amazing melodies combined with Chester's obvious tremendous skill, but also the Nu-Metal elements, which are implemented nicely and don't even sound that dated. The ... read more
BIG-ASS JOE'S GARAGE REVIEW
I guess this could work as a 500 follower special? Idk lol.
Again, massive thanks to @oldtask for the recommendation.
This is the kind of album I would love to give a 100. But there just are some flaws that I want to talk about later on. Let's start with the general stuff:
The production is great. Following "Sheik Yerbouti", I was worried I wouldn't love the production, but it was a very happy surprise that this album sounds phenomenal. The ... read more
A very cool progressive rock EP by John. For those confused: John is the only primary artist. I also was for a short time when the EP was released, but we decided it would be fairer if John gets all the primary artist credit as he wrote everything and it just was his project and not mine. I mixed and mastered everything and played the drums. But still, I want to review the music here, even if I was involved.
And it's a really good EP. Mixing sounds of various classic prog bands, this ... read more
Wow, this album has grown off me quite a lot. For black midi standards, this is pretty meh. They sound somewhat bored and the album is just not that exciting. Especially Greep sounds very bored and not nearly as over the top and theatrical like on his 2024 album. Songs I loved before like "John 50" or "Slow" just don't hit anymore... at least I have a newfound appreciation for "Dethroned". And also... what is "Ascending Forth" trying to do? Because ... read more

Now this is an odd one. Not because of the content, but for the albums nature. It's sort of a live album but also not and the album is also kind of bloated. Let's start with the production. The recording quality is generally very good for a 70s live album but sometimes the recording quality varies from track to track, also within the track (Yo' Mama). The vocals are way too loud in some songs and other elements like the rythm guitar ... read more
Man, what an album. A rare example of Hip Hop - Metal/Rock crossover done well, and very well, I might add. This album is filled to the brim with great riffs, amazing rapping and a powerful message. It's also so ahead of its time, you'd expect an album like this to come out around 2000, but not at the start of the 90s. One gripe I have with it is that the sound doesn't change much across the album's runtime, but if you're in the right mood for it, then it's even ... read more
Edit 85 -> 86 I really underrated the first side, the songs are great
Why didn't I listen to Renaissance earlier?!
"Scheherazade and Other Stories" is grand, whimsical and pretentious as balls, and that's why I love it. I also have never listened to a progressive rock album that is as inspired by classical music as this one, but I won't complain. I would love to score this album 90+, but there's just one problem - side A is so much worse than side B. While the ... read more
I know I will get backlash for this.
Ok, look. There are some inherent flaws with this album. Of course, the abomination that is Moonchild, but also the ugly sound of the drums and the lack of variation in the respective tracks. The worst offender of the latter is the title track, it could've easily ended after 5 minutes. Epitaph also suffers from the repetition, but it makes up for it with its amazing music. Also I Talk to the Wind could have been so much shorter, it really doesn't ... read more

Wtf is this!! I love it!!!
I never really got into Zappa, I don't know why. But there's always a right moment for artists like Zappa and yesterday was that day. One of the coolest people on here, Task, had recommended me this album just a few days prior and while it often takes me some time until I review the recommendations by him and other people, I was certainly intrigued and later fascinated by this album, so I listened to it 5 times yesterday and once ... read more
LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM!!!
Sorry, @jimusicreviews, that it took me so long to finally review...
But here we are.. this is the "Revived" version of John's 2024 album, that he recently released. I was tasked with remixing it and so I did. Looking back, I could've done much better, but I didn't have much time on my hand, so I guess it is good enough.
I tried to rate this album and its tracks without any bias, but that is of course not easy.
"Crimson Skies" is a ... read more

I feel like I was way too harsh on this great album... the "weaker" tracks have grown on me but it's still a little inconsistent imo.
Another very good album by Gentle Giant, these guys really do not miss!
I would love to score this album way higher, but I can't; The Power and the Glory is very inconsistent. For example, "Proclamation" is an amazing opener; every section hits and while I think the closing section shouldn't that fast, it is a ... read more
Another great prog EP from 2025. While the sound is not completely original; reminiscent of other windmill-adjacent bands, I still love this windmill sound, so I won't complain. Another great thing about this EP is the mixing and mastering. Both of the respective engineers did a fantastic job, as the album sounds fresh and authentic, while also not limited to smithereens like so many other modern releases. Some aspects of the songwriting, for example, the lyrics, are still a bit ... read more
Thank you, @oldtask, for the recommendation and again, I'm sorry it took so long...
I can't help but compare Gaucho to Aja. They're both similar in style and sound, and considering how much I love Aja, I think it's an interesting thought. Aja, to me, feels more finished and rewarding. The songwriting is absolutely top-notch and it's also basically the best-sounding album of all time, if you ask me. Gaucho has that 80s drum sound that I don't really like and the ... read more
Thank you guys so much for 500 followers, it means a lot.
... and with that, I am officially back!!
Expect many reviews the next weeks and further.
Touchdown Jesus is a band I had never heard about before checking this album out. I saw reviews calling them the american Black Midi so of course I had to check them out. With high expectations I started listening, and it didn't disappoint.
While it isn't quite like Black Midi, there are many qualities I love about Black Midi that I also ... read more
The new single from Carbonated Water is now out!!
This is not for any upcoming release, just a one off silly little single.
In November 2024, when us 3 weren't officially a band yet, we made this song. We had met up but Roy had to go do something for 30 minutes. So Lil Bebbo and I picked up his guitar and made this song. We didn't really know what we were doing, I'm pretty sure it shows. Enjoy!
