Nas - Life is Good

Good but I don’t get the hype. I’ve beard people say that this is one of Nas’ best, but I just can’t see it. None of the tracks here are necessarily bad, just none really stand out in their own way (Besides Cherry Wine and Daughters).

I feel like the features were a mixed bag overall on the album. Nas had the same level of performance for most of the track list, making some of the songs blend together. Summer On Smash is easily the worst song, as Miguel and Nas just ... read more

Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives

Ok, now THIS is underrated. I love the energy that Damien Marley and Nas bring to the table. You wouldn’t think that they would have a lot of chemistry going into the project, but you’d be proven wrong.

Even though the album kind of drops on quality a bit after Count Your Blessings, the songs aren’t anything atrocious.
The quality of the first part of the album also comes back after In His Own Words, so the album doesn’t really feel like a drag.

Nothing terrible, but also nothing noteworthy. Something that I probably won’t go back too frequently, and if I do, I’ll probably just stop after a couple songs and listen to something else.

Fav: Queens Get The Money
Worst: We’re Not Alone

Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead

It’s good, but disappointing. I love Nas as an artist so much that if the album isn’t an 8/10, then it’s disappointing. I feel like this project almost hits my expectations, but barely falls short.

This album does have its moments, like my fav track Still Dreaming with that amazing production and Kanye feat, and Black Republican being the first collab between JAY-Z and Nas. I also really like Hustlers and thought that Nas and Game had some underrated verses.

Definitely one of his worst projects. Bloated as hell, and has some of his worst tracks ever. The album does have some really underrated tracks on it too though.

Fav: Suicide Bounce
Worst: The Makings Of A Perfect Bitch

Nas - The Lost Tapes

I’m ashamed to admit that I used to think that this was one of Nas’ weaker projects. Man was I wrong. This might actually be my 3rd fav Nas album. Is it a hot take to prefer this to Stillmatic, because I really think that this album is really something great.

Unlike Stillmatic and God’s Son, this project doesn’t have an obvious worst song. The album is very consistent, and I have no idea how these songs got lost, but thank god they were found.

Another Nas project that I have no skips with. I seriously don’t understand the Bravehearts hate, like yeah, they are on the worst tracks on this and Stillmatic, but they are also still going up against some great tracks and their verses aren’t bad at all, just nothing to go crazy about.

I feel like this project checks off all the boxes. Great lyrical performances all around, songs to hype you up like Get Down and Made You Look, beautiful and emotional songs like Dance and Thugz ... read more

Great way to bounce back off Nastradamus. No skips on this project for me, and that includes Braveheart Party. Ether is a pretty brutal diss to JAY-Z, and you just gotta love that start to Got Ur Self A Gun.

Even with all these great songs, I think Rule might actually be my fav. Ik that the chorus is just Amerie singing Everybody Wants To Rule The World, but I feel that Nas’ verses on how human genocide can be the end of us all and that we should just embrace world peace is just ... read more

Part of being my fav artist oat means you have to deal with my high ass expectations. Nas, wtf man. Big Girl might genuinely be one of the worst rap songs of the worst rap songs I’ve heard from the 90’s.

Fav: Life We Choose
Worst: Big Girl

Nas - I Am...

I swear that the most of the time making this album sucked. The OG version was scrapped, it had to deal with the expectations that Illmatic and It Was Written set, Nas almost died making the album cover, which isn’t even good.

Overall, I think the album isn’t horrendous, but a pretty big step down in quality. We still got one of Nas’ best songs, Nas Is Like, and I liked the features from Scarface and DMX.

Fav: Nas Is Like
Worst: K-I-SS-I-N-G

Nas - It Was Written

The PERFECT follow up to Illmatic. It’s so hard trying to find which song is the best off the album and which is worse since they’re all great.

Fav: The Message
Worst: Suspect

De La Soul - Cabin In The Sky

As soon as I finished the album, I told my friend that he NEEDS to listen to this. Not a single skip on this project, but I also don’t think that all of them are perfect.

I didn’t find all of the songs on the project memorable. I think that it might just be a me issue, but I didn’t really find Cruel Summers Bring FIRE LIFE!! and Good Health very memorable.

Overall, this is a very consistently great project, and I found this way better than the last installment in the Legend ... read more

Decided to start writing my own review on albums, and decided to start with my favorite album of all time: Illmatic by Nas.

Nas is my favorite artist of all time, so it is no surprise that this would be my favorite album oat. There really isn’t much to say about this album that hasn’t been said already, but that won’t stop me from glazing this masterpiece.

The rhymes and flow on this project is streets ahead. On the first track, NY State of Mind, Nas says that he ... read more

"@ZS2026 Thought it felt out of place and didn’t flow well. Just kinda messy and didn’t compliment the beat well. I do think that you have the ability to make a verse hit hard, just that one track wasn’t it for me."
