Farrah Abraham - My Teenage Dream Ended
NR

#200 on Anthony Fantano's top 200 albums of the year. I think there's probably two types of people when it comes to this Album. There's people who listen to the lyrics and really appreciate how personal it is and how well it captures the death of a younger more optimistic version of ones' self and there are people like me who just get really hung up on the auto tune not sounding very pleasing to the ear. Still it's got merit. If auto tune doesn't bother you I think ... read more

#493 on the RollingStone top 500. It's with regret I say I'm neutral to this album too. Though this time it feels like a very different reason than all the other albums. Whereas before I felt the music was very average here I felt that it wasn't connecting to me because my experiences with Romance and Love are so staunchly different from Marvin's. I also couldn't help but think that perhaps I just haven't lived enough life to really connect with his ballads and perhaps I'd be better off ... read more

Rufus & Chaka Khan - Ask Rufus
NR

I listened to this album less than a week ago and felt completely indifferent to it at the time. Currently I can't remember a single thing that came from this album. I don't think it was bad but it really left no impression on me.

The Ronettes - Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica
NR

It's difficult to articulate what this album did for me that the other albums I've looked at so far didn't. For starters I just want to say I don't think the album is perfect or anything. I think it still suffers from almost all the music being largely forgettable but I was still able to sit through the entire thing and enjoy myself. While I can't tell you why I felt this way or how it achieved this I can tell you that it felt well made and that while having a central theme I felt there was a ... read more

Boyz II Men - II
NR

I had a lot of feelings listening to this album.

I went from thinking I would like the album.

Then I felt like it was heavily commercialized and lacked substance despite sounding nice.

Then I thought it was really well made slop.

Then I realized it's just meant to appeal to women attracted to the various Boyz II Men members.

And now I'm just sitting here accepting that I listened to what I believe is called a Boy Band.

Shakira - ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?
NR

Talk about saving the best for last. I felt very neutral about all the songs in this album until I got to Ojos Así and that had me going monkey mode. I wanted to see that music paired with some grand visuals I'm talking like a bunch of warrior dudes marching up an ancient tower with Shakira at the top and at the bottom of the tower everyone is raiding their arms and jumping up and down. I know that probably doesn't make any sense but it just felt very grand and it got the blood bumping. ... read more

Various Artists - The Indestructible Beat of Soweto
NR

Sometimes this album seems pretty cool, you know it gets me vibin' I think "Okay, I can chill to this." And other times I'm just sitting here thinking. "This is ambient music at a restaurant." I was really hoping for something awesome that I would keep coming back to and I thought I had it with Nansi Imali. There were parts where I was like. "Okay this kinda slaps. This is pretty sweet." But then it just got really really repetitive and unfortunately I don't speak ... read more

Suicide - Suicide
NR

I felt like this album was trying to show the amount of variety you can get with the same baseline or beat or whatever it is you call it. The kinda background music everything else is formed around. I thought that was a pretty cool idea but I got burned out on it fairly quickly. I wonder if I would have enjoyed the album more by splicing random songs I like in between this album to get a better appreciation for their ability to keep that variety using the same background music. Especially if it ... read more

Arcade Fire - Funeral
NR

I thought this album was pretty cool. It wasn't my favorite thing in the world and I kinda felt like it dragged on for a while but I also felt like it made total sense that this was #500 in Rolling Stones top 500 album list. Not to my specific tastes but very neat.
