Really stunning stripped-back acoustic stuff. I love Andy Shauf's more recent stuff but part of me wishes he returned to this sound because his songwriting is just so damn good.
Upon first listen: "hey this is basically Beach House"
30 listens later: "why does this album feel like a warm sunny day and a melancholic rainy day at the same time and why can't I stop listening to it"
The vocal harmonies on ANY TIME OF DAY are literally EARTH SHATTERING and I'm 80% that they hit the brown note somewhere in there
It breaks my heart to say this but I’ve effectively given up on Temples at this point. I was a massive fan of their first two albums (especially Volcano) and was very luke-warm on Hot Motion, but after having seen these guys live I saw a massive well of untapped potential - Temples could make a psych-pop masterpiece some day.
