Really comes into its own at the end, but I could take or leave songs like "Ain't My Concern" or "Dark Sword Angel." This album is also where he peaked as a lyricist, getting deep into his introspective bag and reflecting on how aging has shaped him, allowing him to grow beyond the person depicted on projects like Atrocity Exhibition and XXX. Love the production throughout also.
I have trouble latching onto anything from this album. I don't think redveil is very captivating in either his flows or lyrics, and while the production is solid, it's been done to death by previous artists with much better results. "learn 2 swim" stood out because of redveil's energy and ear for distinctive production, both of which are sorely lacking here.

Kanye can only be carried so far by production. His rambling, unfocused writing and inconsistent performances make the album feel more like a Vultures than a Yeezus, and turn some songs that should be great ("Real Friends", "Wolves", "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1) into frustrating listens. Did this need to be 4 discs? Probably not, but I can see why he made it longer, as the story told through the interludes works better when it’s more spread out, and there isn’t a bad song here, maybe just ones where the production or Sideshow’s delivery doesn’t land as hard. The project really hits its stride in Disc 3, as by that point, you’re more settled in with Sideshow’s unorthodox delivery, and the production is the strongest for me.
