Fitting this is my first review of anything not a single on this website. So where to begin? This album is weirdly cohesive in its chaotic nature. Ethan is surprisingly not bad and better than Nick. Although Nick has been the worst part of most of this record and Dev has been the best part of it IMO. For instance, the big tiktok hit "PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN" is kinda just ok until the Dev final verse.

Okay, I see why the score is so high. I just heard this for the 1st time and it's one of the best instrumental tracks I've ever heard and so glad I listen to it as part of my every #1 song of all time listening thing. This is the gold standard of Easy Listening music IMO. Also, I just read they're a rock group on Wikipedia. Is this a rock n roll song or is the (Alternate Take) with classic rock vocals? or am I just uneducated about the history of rock music? (Which is very Possible) But Anyway, ... read more
This song is a little bit boring with how it goes nowhere fast. But it still is not bad by any means also it's the first real duo harmony in a big #1 song on the charts, Which is cool, Also Pretty sure the first people out of one of the music capitals of America, Nashville Tennessee. To ever go #1 as well. Also, why does it sound like they are singing about Jesus but trying to make him sound more American by calling him "Jimmy Brown" instead of Jesus Christ? Just a thought, anyway ... read more
This is a short Elvis song with some weird vocal slip-ups from the traditional Elvis style. But it is simple and clean and all so i can't be mad at it really. Not much to say really. More interestingly to me. the Album it's on is called "50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong: Elvis' Gold Records, Volume 2" It sounds like the tagline of a Billy Mays commercial. "Hi Billy Mays here To Tell you that 50,000,000 fans of the automatic Toilet paper roller can't be wrong"
His Boyish Vocals feel grating a bit and flat, Granted I might be biased by how many young kids I've heard crooning about a woman or girl for 2-4 minutes in my reviewing batch I'm doing. But I still feel I would dislike this song either way. So here's the early days of Paul Anka and after listening I feel I should take a nap or just go to sleep altogether.
This song is the definition of Camp but it is a little fun. Also, this song made me remember The new Orleans War of 1815 for the first time since I had gone to high school. Fun fact about me and that war. I'm part Choctaw. and they were the tribe fighting for America in this "Battle Of New Orleans" So you could see this as a Choctaw anthem. Until you realize they were led by Andrew Jackson who would ask for all of the Indigenous tribes to be killed but that's a story for another day. ... read more
I love the Vocal Inflections from Wilbert on this track. The Instrumental is simple but fun and it's not groundbreaking and it definitely is not that interesting but it's a fun little ditty. Also, this is a question I have after this song, Does Kansas have "Crazy Little Women" as the song suggests? Like I never heard people say "Man don't mess with those women down in Kansas" like is it a thing back in the 50s? These are the questions i will ponder for at least the next few ... read more
This Is the first ever Instrumental #1 song on the Billboard Ever. And it's perfectly Okay. Like just really really okay and enjoyable but uninteresting and if i heard it more than once or twice I'd probably start to lose my mind. So yea it's a "MID" song but it's a respectable type of Mid.
This song is very peaceful and it's just a soft ride through the stream with a pleasant little melody in the background. It's just a very sweet tune. Not much more to say. I say i see why this song was covered 12 times between 1958 and 1982. It's fun to sing too trust me i did to. Very Poorly but still did it.
I've never been a huge fan of Frankie Avalon. I'm only reviewing this as part of my reviews of every #1 single in Billboard History. This song blends in as a more monotonous version of other songs of its time. Just like Frankie as an artist from my experience with every Avalon song I've ever heard. It's hard to say much because it's perfectly fine while also being so so boring.
This song is a lovely little tune with a lot of joyful energy to share. Despite being a song about someone losing all their money to a random person at the bar named Billy. Then Young stagger Lee got a gun and shot Billy. This is interesting because guns being talked about in music wasn't that popular in the 50s unless it was like a Western or country-style song. So yea good song. Side Note: For some reason, Llyod Price's Youtube page calls this "stager Lee" That's odd. Just wanted ... read more
This song is irresistibly charming to such a high degree. I can't fully describe with words my appreciation and love for this song. It's just such a pretty-sounding love song with some really strong vocal runs and a very classy feel to the whole affair here. There's not really anything to dislike about this song. It's just that it's pretty simple, So don't expect a reinventing of the wheel or innovation but Still Extremely High Quality.
I know of this song from my mom and grandma but I'm way too young to have heard this as a kid. Which is why i don't have any nostalgia that can make this score higher. I mean it's the original example of high pitch chipmunk style vocals that be used as gimmicks in a lot of songs to come. There is a charm here though if you don't listen to it more than once a year that i can sense. Long Live The Chipmunks.
To Know this song has made me love her vocals. haha bad puns, Anyway. This song is very one-note and goes nowhere and the instrumental is absolutely...Fine. This song would be lower if it wasn't for The Vocals of Carol Connors.
What a Weird introduction to Folk Music on the Charts. To have 3 people sing from the point of view of a murder who is now going to be hung and weirdly switches from being the killer to singing at him to feel bad and also i have to be real. It makes me almost laugh because it seems to be trying to be taken seriously but how can i? I mean it could be worse but it's by no means good with it's basic one note vocals. But it gets points for making me laugh.
The Mix on spotify makes his vocals feel a little lost at times and peaking at others. But the saxophone is infectious and It's got a real good energy but the vocals make me sometimes enjoy it and at others hate it and other times just confused. Side Note: I respect that he Added U.S. Bonds to his name as a marketing tactic that's actually awesome.
As someone who is a former Christian. Who has lots of biases about the problems with the philosophy of closing your eyes and hoping that inner peace from just a book that says someone cares about you. I choose to focus on the fact this song is sung pretty well by a good singer in Lauren Daigle but also is repetitive as most modern Christian hits I hear are. The lyrics make it hard for me to get into the song as well with how weird some of them are. I Will leave on this though Christian Adele ... read more
This song that won the 1st ever Grammy for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. That got him 3rd place in the 1958 Edition of Eurovision and sold over 22 Million Copies around the world. The man who'd go on to be a senator in Italy based on the success of his music career. Made one of the first major examples of a "cantautore" or "Singer/Songwriter" type song from Italy. But as for the song itself. It's Entrancing and simple and I have a love for it. It's a little slow ... read more
This song got worse the more i listened to it what started at a low 70 ended at a mid 50. Still decent but also the lyrics feel cringe when talking about the kissing and fingertips stuff. I respect Tommy as a singer though he's got a solid voice. I wish the song had more personality and granted it's probably because this type of song has been copied many times but still. Other than that Congratulations on being the first African American to get a #1 billboard song, Tommy. May you Rest in Peace.
