the sidepeices - darklight

this album is very unrefined and kinda inconsistent in the latter half but the good songs are so good, it's a very weird and wonky soundscape that's pretty experimental. I'll always appreciate albums that try to have a unique identity in their sound, good experience good music.

Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
91

some of these songs feel like a painful reflection of yourself in the mirror. heartbreaking song writing, especially on the third track.

νŒŒλž€λ…Έμ„ [Parannoul] - After the Night

"If this whole world were someone else's dream
Will I be different from now when I wake up someday"

my expectations for this got completely blown out of the water, I looked at the tracklist before listening to this knowing I'd most likely love this due to most of the live songs being my favourite parannoul tracks.
i just didnt expect the intensity of the songs to go up another level compared to the original songs. Analog Sentimentalism is most likely the most improved on ... read more

Sarah Kinsley - Fleeting
79

way way way too short but a really impressive EP, her voice is genuinely gorgeous and even better it's over synths.

Charli xcx - Wuthering Heights
50

could've been so much more but obviously limited due to this being a soundtrack but still most of the songs just whisked by, the good songs were worthwhile at least.

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
55

j cole thank you for the nicest compilation of lullabies to ease me into sleep 😴

Chikoi The Maid - From The Past to The Future

post rock/metal can get pretty samey the more albums you get through but it's albums like this that make me have an entirely different appreciation for what the genre could sound like.
this project is electrifying, the guitars fucking rip, the utilisation of breakbeat to complement the instrumentals is so clever, the drums sound like a clip being unloaded in your ear.
every component that builds around the sound on this album is uniquely executed — whilst this is very much a heavy ... read more

νŒŒλž€λ…Έμ„ [Parannoul] - After the Magic
89

parannoul's work genuinely impresses me so much, every album he does has a certain creative direction. his music doesn't get repetitive or sound like generic noise rock/shoegaze. this album in particular is his most charming and alluring project, the cover nails exactly how this sounds. every album from the band is just consistently good eats.

Ho99o9 - Tomorrow We Escape
81

balls to the wall fucking insane album, they genuinely put the foot on the pedal with this and it sounds PHENOMENAL. the bounce between hip hop, metal and punk is so seamless, it feels natural and not an overly forced genre switch.

caroline - caroline 2
70

devastatingly mellow. although I have mixed feelings on the vocal performances on this, quite a few tracks don't seem to mesh well between the vocals and the instrumentals. is it part of the vibe of the album? probably, if so it wasn't nailed in very well. the highs on this record are SUPER high, 'Two riders down' is a fantastic track and is my stand out track from this.

Nourished By Time - The Passionate Ones
92

you can't help but been in awe after listening to this, this album is so likeable, it's so accessible. the vocals are pure ear candy, really really catchy. the songwriting is bittersweet, witty and really cleverly put together. this is a passion project through and through which amplifies the raw sound of this album significantly, genuinely love this a ton.

redveil - sankofa
80

after 3 years redveil finally dropped a new album and fuck it's amazing, he seems to have found a sound to stick with while still being pretty versatile. sankofa is almost comforting to listen to, it's super accessible and an absolute joy to listen to.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Tranquilizer
85

bizarrely trancing album, 'Storm Show' and 'Waterfalls' are kinda easily the best tracks on the album.

Lucy Bedroque - Unmusique
90

sonically catchy, fun, consistent. does lucy ever miss

Armand Hammer - Mercy
89

rap duo armand hammer strike again, their consistency is inevitable as always. this new album further showcases that elucid and woods are still at their poetical peak with woods hammering in his usual cutthroat deliveries, whilst not as politically focused or as dark as some of his previous albums, woods takes the more introspective lane with alot of the tracks. exemplary his verse on 'Dogeared' and 'Glue Traps'.
on elucid's end, he's steadily been going bar for ... read more

Kate Bush - The Dreaming
95

this was a very left field album from kate bush compared to her other works, it's a considerably inaccessible listen — that aside, when this album clicks it fucking CLICKS. as wacky and downright crazy as her vocals get on this, it's somehow really theatrical and grandiose. the progression from baroque/prog pop into electronics show just how much she pioneered in the pop genre, the influences from her works are laid all over in modern pop music.
I mean some individual tracks on ... read more
