"woO-woO-woO-OOOH"
this is such a fucking mess. By the time I reached the title track I was genuinely bored.
I want to be able to say I’m disappointed, but I got exactly what I expected from this.
- Rushed Production
- Questionable and downright bad lyrics
- Lack of character
- Excruciatingly boring Ty Dolla $ign hooks
What I DIDNT expect was to enjoy a song off of this. ‘FUK SUM’ has so much potential. But just as fast as it became enjoyable, completely lost its ... read more
FACTS: 90
PULP FICTION: 92
OFF THE RIP: 82
I think FACTS shows how hard he can go, and PULP FICTION was another glimpse into something that he's still struggling to fully define in his catalogue.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF JID OWNING A SONG HE'S FEATURED ON - Mamas PrimeTime
will be doing full review soon
'A LA CARTE' was a little weird, and the beginning of it was bad on first listen. I'm glad i pushed through though, because for whatever reason the second half of the song was infinitely more enjoyable.
'U DON'T KNOW ME LIKE THAT' Is very good, the over-produced pitched-up vocals sounded quite nice and made for a weird experience.
Initial Review: Enjoyable listen, and a new sound to me.
one of the first full albums i sat down and listened to, and I loved it. Returning to it, Cordae doesn't have a lot of variety in his flow, but god every single chorus on this things is heavenly.
My highlights are Bad Idea, RNP, Grandma's House & Been Around.
This is a project that's gonna grow on me. Die Today is one of my favorite songs of the year, and Imagine is such a groove.
I listened to this when it released, and I quite enjoyed it, but I hadn't started this account yet. Seeing as I'm listening to his whole discography for the first time, I felt like it would make sense to come back to this project. It's 100% grown on me. On my first listen, I was underwhelmed A) because I didn't have another album to compare it to, and I had such high expectations from the weight of the name "Kendrick Lamar"
On this project Kendrick brings a kind of swagger to common ... read more
nothing written for a review yet, but I wanted to get my 100 in here :)
going back through kendrick's discography to re-rate everything and i'm very glad that i am. this album is amazing.
I feel like i'd be doing this and TPAB dirty by writing full reviews while i'm still learning how to write them better, so i'll just do what i normally do and leave little notes on each song. The one that caught my attention was m.A.A.d city and Swimming Pools.
It's very cool seeing the experimentation he was doing with transitions during this album, which I assume is what built ... read more
GOD this makes me so excited for Metro x JID, and apparently also forever and a day!?!?!? god this is gonna be a good couple months for JID enjoyers like myself :) Half Doin Dope is okay, Van Gogh grew on me, initially i didn't like it but now its got me movin,
Not gonna do a full review rn, just wanted to throw out there that JID does so good that token ends up delivering one of his best verses of all time afterwards.
bro was like "oh shit i'm slacking" then dropped heat
will be coming back to this to finish it
metro motha fuckin' boomin
Thought I'd expand my rap taste, and felt like trying out a new style of production and rap would be a good place to start?
On Time - MOGAN FEEMAN I think its a really interesting intro, COME BACK TO IT
Superheroes (Heroes and Villains) - I fucking love this instrumental, however I think it could've been much better used by other artists. "Bread by the loaf" is really funny until you remember bread is a synonym ... read more
The singles leading up to this song excited me. Not because I liked them, but because I was flabbergasted at how someone could miss so hard twice, and still prelude a fucking album. I’m all for positivity, but I simply cannot in this case.
Slow Down - AJRs “Birthday Party” did it better, which isn’t saying much. Nothing positive to say.
Kind Of Love - The rhyming scheme is so 1 2 1 2 and it’s impossible to find any semblance of enjoyment in this. It was the same ... read more
I WAS UP LATE NIGHT BALLIN
Full review will come in the future, but for now I just have to say 2 things
1. Kendricks secret feature on “Yeah Right” was A) Perfectly executed and b) fucking HARD
2. COUNTIN UP HUNNIDS BY THE THOUSANDS
