this does need the context of the movie to work a lot better but generally I slowly enjoyed and appreciated this way more over time, it isn't cudi's greatest work but I really do appreciate it.
the voice cracks and inflections on tracks can be bad in a not so charming way sometimes, the production isnt flattering, and his singing is bad in a good amount of this album, you would think saying that all I'd give this a bad rating? no the messiness and unflatteringness make this a raw and beautiful album, 2018 version misses alot of the raw strength this one has it's imperfect in almost every way but it feels so naked, I'm left tearing up 9.7/10
edit 10/10
sometimes you can barely hear them but Its a nice little EP, 6.5/10
8.5/10 Let's Start Here I think I'll enjoy more n more with more listens, that first track was perfect but it doesnt get bad from there, sound scape is wonderful the production is really good, I really cant get over the sound the sound of this album is fucking amazing
on relisten 9/10 the sound is perfect, I adore it holy shit
so much fun, I will return to this alot when I'm bored and just need some music I can bang my head to
drake comes back with no level of effort or care, 5 minute songs feel like they are 25 minutes, the best it had to offer was just okay the rest is really fucking mediocre or bad, just overall another drake album I wont give a second listen to anytime soon 4/10
edit: 4.5 --> 2.5
the production is great but its not enough to save that weird start with that vocal chop and the loss of atmopshere the original had, it's a pretty good just no great
