My mom’s physical therapist told her that it was worth checking out Khruangbin, so I added their Apple Music Essential Album to my list for the plane ride. And of all the times I chose to listen to this album, it was probably the worst one. Don’t get me wrong, Con Todo El Mundo has a nice atmosphere, and I appreciate the live instruments, but when I saw the Indie Rock genre I expected a lot more. This might have been original in the ‘80s or so, but it doesn’t have a ... read more
I don’t have much to say about this collab project. I’ve been putting off listening to it for over a year because I had heard that it was mid, and it was indeed quite forgettable. Two of the most legendary melodic trap artists hopped on some average beats and rapped below the level of what I’d expect from them. The lyricism especially wasn’t very good. Going into a project by artists like these you shouldn’t expect crazy bars or anything, but there were some ... read more
I feel like I’m the target demographic for this album: a high-school guy who likes girls. At times, Blush leans too hard into that demographic, but with that comes some really good vibes, reminiscent of Amine’s album from earlier this year, “13 Months of Sunshine.” This album starts off really strong and unfortunately doesn’t maintain that as it progresses, but I’d honestly say there are no misses: just the songs weren’t going as hard towards the end. ... read more
After listening to the seriously great body of work that is “I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You,” I was eager to check out more of Quadeca’s work. I went to his following mixtape, “Scrapyard:” a collection of throwaways from his IDMTHY sessions, as the title implies. And, this might be a weird opinion, but I actually prefer this mixtape. It’s full of fresh and unique songs, and it’s not to say that IDMTHY doesn’t, but Scrapyard puts great tracks ... read more
Well, now I see where DJ JDK got his inspiration from. I gotta say, it’s pretty bizarre yet cool to hear rap that has that corny white rapper and Memphis hood sound combined. I can’t say that it works 100% of the time, but I still enjoyed a lot of this album. The beats and sampling were really well done and created a dark yet clear atmosphere. Some of the vocals sounded a bit awkward, but most of the time they fit the production really well. There was a really strong standout in ... read more
A nice album with some really fun songs, but far from how great UNIVERSE was.
Bad mixing, boring rapping and unoriginal ideas. On the off chance that one of the two delivers, the other doesn’t. I don’t really care for Glokk, but I enjoy a lot of OsamaSon’s stuff, so this was disappointing.
Favorite: Vixen
Least favorite: Blame Dem Drugz
Far from Edgar’s best project, but the lyricism and consistency is on a higher level than before on Archangel. I liked the R&B influence throughout the project, especially on resolution. I could see this growing on me in future listens, to an extent.
Favorites: resolution (#1), no handouts, i told u, gotta change, discreet lines
Least favorite: never understood (this was especially disappointing, I expected more from Tim)
#81/330 album (top 24.5%), #3/8 midwxst project
A significant step up from his debut album, BRLCTAP is a fun melodic dubstep project with some emotional depth that was explored more greatly in future Skye projects. A lot of these songs still hold up quite well, while others are a bit unoriginal and haven't aged the greatest.
Favorites: Heliov (#1), Harbinger, There's Still Time, Somewhere Out There
Least favorite: Empty Space
It’s decent I guess. This was my first Tecca album, and based on the singles my standards were pretty high. I enjoyed the rage songs since it felt nice to hear Tec on a different type of beat, but a lot of songs in the first half especially sounded low-effort and redundant. Nothing was bad at all, but there weren’t many songs that stood out as too great. Ken unironically had the best rapping performance on the whole project.
Favorites: Dark Thoughts, Tic Tac Toe (#1)

I really enjoyed one of wun and the December single GOT DAMN, but this is mid as hell.
Another solid song by Nobu Woods. Nowhere near his best song but still a nice vibe.
PHENOMENAL compilation, I wish it was longer but there are very few weak moments on this thing. The only parts I didn't like were the jersey club part of hope(less) weekend (the rest of this song is unique as hell and one of my favorites though) and the first drop of Glass Cannon. Disbelief, Radiant and Alone are some high-level future riddim bangers, the latter being the way that I was introduced to one of my favorite producers, CANOTO. Problem and Higher are super creative and fun songs, ... read more
This actually isn't that bad. I prefer this over Tha Carter V, and especially over III. Wayne kinda snapped on a few songs, but I didn't like a lot of the features. I don't see myself revisiting any songs from this project, but that's not to say there aren't some solid songs on here.
Favorites: Welcome To Tha Carter, Bells, Hip-Hop, Loki's Theme (#1)
Least favorite: Peanuts 2 N Elephant (however I could see this having the OPM BABI effect if I revisit it)
untiljapan displays some lyricism on this project that is far better than most of his fellow underground rappers, but that's sacrificed for below-average production and uncomfortable flows.
Favorites: YAYO (WHITE PARIS), GOODBYE, COME AGAIN
