I understand why everyone's ragging on this album, and i LIKE good kid. Ive listened to all of their EPs and im genuinely rooting for this band, especially in the modern landscape where really good bands like this just aren't as prevalent as they used to be. Man this record was a disappointment and lacked theconsistent hits present on their EPs before this. There isn't a song on this record that hits the same as Dance Class, Mimi's Delivery Service, Bubbly, Tell Me You Know, ... read more
This project is a little overhyped, and outside of the BANGERS to start this record it doesn't offer as much. Like I agree that Losing a Whole Year, Graduate, Semi-Charmed Life, Jumper, and How's It Going to Be are absolute BANGER tracks that are perfect for any situation, don't get me wrong, but the rest of the album doesn't stay at that standard. Considering that Third Eye Blind is highly considered the prototypical one-album wonder band, this album isn't even as much ... read more
I hope white pony is better than this man. Haven't expected more out of an album and been so let down... ever. I kinda regret buying this over ALL the other albums they have that are probably much better. There are three ELITE songs on this record (my own summer, be quiet and drive, dai the flu) but after that every other song feels just whatever. If anyone sees this please suggest a better deftones album to listen to because I DO love this band, but i want a TRUE complete project to own ... read more
i ended up buying this on vinyl because i thought it was the original and its genuinely such a good remake but i dont even want to rank it because they genuinely remade the album i havent even listened to the orignal honestly what do i even do i need suggestions
THIS SOME GOAT SHITTTTTT!!!!! Summertime is the saddest song of all time I don't care how happy you think it is it makes me sad because I am a fat bitchless chud. Cry makes me cry too. This is dreamy, beautiful, lovely, and sad all at the same time because of elite production, great songs, and Harriet Wheeler's lovely voice. I can't believe a band as good as this isn't seen in the same light as bullshit like the cranberries. The cranberries have 30 million more monthly ... read more
This album is literally so underrated for no reason considering how many people know of it. Just another classic rock thing like the Eagles... right. Tom Scholz is a perfectionist and this record is Boston's version of perfection. There are no misses and Boston's iconic, one-of-a-kind tone shines throughout the whole album with the most talented instrumentality to come out of the 70s outside of Led Zeppelin. Hitch a Ride is perenially underrated as the best song on this record, with ... read more
Underrated and surprisingly great highlight from the grunge era. I know grunge IS my favorite genre so this might be biased anyways but there actually is more to Candlebox than just being another decent rock band to come out of the scene. Every song bangs and there are no misses with great instrumental work and surprisingly creative songwriting. Far Behind is a classic. These guys deserved the radio play they got back in the day and should get an extended listen.
Better than OK computer I don't care what the pretentious heads have to say. Radiohead is surprisingly NOT overrated, as much glaze as they get from everyone in the music community. This shit is peak, innovative and masterful hard rock and honestly where they peaked if I'm being honest (I haven't listened to In Rainbows as of this review, so this could change). They still had the hard rock bangers of Pablo Honey but were starting to really evolve their sound with more psychedelic ... read more
Thank God that Duvet got people coming back to this absolute masterpiece. I also HATE that Duvet is the only song people know off of this record. This is a MASTERPIECE and is still highly underrated even after Duvet went viral. I cried to the acoustic version of Duvet. I scream to For Jasmine. This entire record throws your heart into one of the world's biggest whirlwinds through MASTERFUL instrumentation, songwriting, production, and Jasmine Rodgers' powerful and iconic vocals. Every ... read more
One of if not the most underrated band of all time, with soft classic influences on a hard-edge genre, they literally sounded like Zeppelin. They were incredibly catchy and groovy while also being sentimental and even angry at points. They had elite instrumentality and ESPECIALLY production while being able to write up a few catchy hooks. I don't know why more people don't come to this band specifically when people talk about the great, innovative bands of the 90s. If Hoon didn't ... read more
This is a truly great record and obviously the greatest EP ever produced. Very few runs could ever compare to the first four-song run of the record, especially Rotten Apple. AIC continued to flesh out their discography here by stripping back the layers and relying on their elite harmonies while having all-time riffs and, of course, vocal flashes from the great Layne Staley. Rotten Apple's rough, dark edge, and No Excuses' elite drum intro never fail to amaze. Whale and Wasp is ... read more
Man, this is such a great record. Alice in Chains' debut was truly the beginning of something special. This band's songwriting started out so great, and they weren't even in prime form yet. Man in the Box is an absolute classic, but the true standouts on this record are songs like Love, Hate, Love, Bleed the Freak, Confusion, the deep cut Real Thing, and especially Sunshine. Sunshine is one of THOSE songs. It reminds me of someone. Layne Staley's vocal deliveries, of course, ... read more
You know, going into this listen, I didn't expect too much and thought it would be something similar to Nirvana's Nevermind. Boy, was I wrong. This is an incredible, complete record from start to finish and displays incredible instrumentality, innovation, and songwriting. The only reason it's not up there with my other top albums is that it doesn't quite reach the same peaks as those top seven records, but it's damn close. Black does reach a similar peak and breaks my ... read more
This is one of the greatest and, honestly, most underrated albums of all time. When we talk about an artist's creative peaks, songwriting-wise, it genuinely doesn't get better than this. Core was their introduction onto the scene in one of the flashiest ways possible, and Purple had tons of great hits, but this was when they stripped down and really made some of their best work. And So I Know, and Adhesive are some of the greatest, saddest songs ever, and they revel in their ... read more
Don't know why it's rated so low on this website. This is an incredible project start to finish and is the beginning of the greatest songwriting run of all time outside of like the Beatles. There are two filler songs on this and EVERYTHING else is a banger. Dead and Bloated is a perfect opener. Sex Type Thing fucks. What I love so much about STP is their versatility in songwriting, even if the instrumentals and vocals aren't out of this world. They could create incredible hype ... read more
Thank you, Jeff Buckley. Although this falls just short of perfection in my opinion, Jeff Buckley's combination of vocals, instrumentality, and songwriting is incredibly eye-opening. His vocal style didn't just define a generation, but it changed the art of singing for years to come. His thin, raspy, but powerful voice complemented his deep, emotional, vulnerable songwriting to perfection. This album encapsulates every definition of the word "love." His lyricism is so potent ... read more
This album is just under Badmotorfinger for me, but it is also a perfect record. They don't grow on trees. Them Bones is the perfect opener and honestly one of the greatest openers of all time, full stop. Staley cements himself as the best vocalist of the decade and one of the all-time greats with elite performances on songs like Would, Hate to Feel, God Smack, and especially Rain When I Die. Cantrell's musicianship reaches incredible new heights on many of these songs, and it is a ... read more
