The Kills - Midnight Boom

Really awesome album!! I love their sound and I would give this a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that a lot of the tracks just really didn't stand out, making the album drag on a bit for me. That aside, my favorite song on this was "Last Day of Magic." I keep coming back to that one again and again :)

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

Telling people I love the Smiths makes me feel so pretentious, but who couldn't love this, right??

The Postal Service - Give Up

this is the PEAK of indie electronica, every song is a straight banger and their unique sound never gets old to me. This album actually got me into DCFC rather than the other way around funnily enough

she shat in the mother toilet with this one

blink-182 - Enema of the State

I've been listening to this album religiously since the ripe age of 8 years old and I think it has vastly impacted my mental development... it's up to you to decide if it's a positive impact or not.

Regardless of my history with this, it is such a solid album! I think it really achieves what it is going for: encapsulating the angst of teenage years. Yeah, it's not particularly profound, but it's real, and it's raw! Everyone's been mad at adults, been scared ... read more

Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory

I thoroughly enjoyed this album upon listening to it for the first time in class today. Also, Mark Hoppus produced this?? That's cool as hell!!

Melt-Banana - Scratch or Stitch

I feel kind of guilty for giving this such a low rating, and I usually try to not rate albums too low. Despite this, I just feel like I'm missing something! There are a fair amount of positive reviews for this album, so it's probably just up to personal taste.

To me, this album was practically unlistenable. The instrumentals were fine. Simply fine. The vocals on the other hand were almost intolerable for me, as it felt like they were pinching me in the skull... I wonder if this is ... read more

It just doesn't get better than the blue album.

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Boy, oh boy. The Beatles! As one of the (or maybe THE) most popular bands of the 20th century and even beyond that, there's no question that that have quite the array of works that are consistently of high quality, but this album stands out as one of my favorites because of its cohesiveness and visible impact on modern music.

I consider myself to be a huge fan of the Beatles, but even before I knew much about their catalogue, I admired this album because I love albums that seem to have a ... read more

Weezer - Pinkerton

An album that was once dismissed by critics now goes down in fame as some of Weezer's best work and one of the earliest and most influential albums to the emo genre.

I've heard varying opinions regarding this album, believe me, but for me, this album has remained tried and true as a familiar album I can always go back to when I need the comfort of my favorite music. Despite the common criticism of this album stating that it is of poor quality and direction or simply that Rivers' ... read more

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

I spent my whole childhood hearing my mom's praises toward R.E.M., as well as countless retellings from her of how their songs came to be. Despite my passive knowledge of R.E.M., I had never listened to the full duration of one of their albums before! Crazy, right? So, as my mom's R.E.M. CD rested upon the shelf of my desk, I decided it was about time to give it a go.

Low and behold, I really enjoyed this album! I was already familiar with "Everybody Hurts" and ... read more

Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted

(This is my first review, so I'm still learning the ropes of writing informative reviews and giving accurate ratings, please bear with me!) I wish I decided to listen to this album all the way sooner! Listening to this album fulfilled a longing that had occupied my heart recently for a memorable album with distinguishable character. This album truly has its own personality as it is raw, eccentric, reflective, and quite frankly, just sounds awesome. In my opinion, many aspects of this album ... read more
