JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
93

You may not like it, but this is peak hoe-scaring material. We've peaked as a society. This album is just pure experimental hip-hop doing it's thing and it's absolutely outstanding. This is an album that you'd get handed to by someone on the street in Chicago except it's the best-case scenario. The production is amazing and the rapping is charismatic and funny.

"Lean Beef Patty" kicks this album off really well with a pretty nice beat and a really nice flow from Peggy. The beat fits ... read more

Daniel Caesar - NEVER ENOUGH
55

Dude, I'm honestly so disappointed. Daniel Caesar is one of the most beautiful and majestic voices in contemporary R&B that actually releases music (I'm looking at you Frank), but I just can't help but forgetting half of this album in the sea of melodramatic or drowned-out R&B. It's not bad, he still has good vocals, but I can't deal with half of the songs being the same song over and over again.

The opening track, "Ocho Rios", seems to be very beloved in the general scope of ... read more

KAYTRAMINÉ - KAYTRAMINÉ

This one is pretty fun. Amine is one of my favorite contemporary rappers right now, and this album is pretty good. Nothing as outstanding as Limbo is to me, but KAYTRAMINE still offers some summery bangers that I repeatedly revisit.

The album's opener is pretty weak, though, with "Who He Iz" giving listeners a real comatose and unenthusiastic performance from Amine over one of the weaker KAYTRANADA beats on the project. Haven't really revisited this one, and I think it will stay that ... read more

Metro Boomin - METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (SOUNDTRACK FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE)
65

I don't really mind this release. Sure, it's not the most revolutionary or outstanding trap release ever, but it's not bad in the slightest. Metro provides us with a very grandiose and occasionally orchestral sound on this album that's really fit for the web-slinging movie.

The album starts off GREAT, with the first 5 songs ranging anywhere from pretty solid songs to some of my favorite trap songs of the year so far. "Annihilate" is a song that kinda had to grow on me with how short ... read more

Young Thug - BUSINESS IS BUSINESS
36

There's only a few tracks on here even worth giving a second or third listen, just because so many elements of this album are such a turn-off that it doesn't even warrant appreciation of the good parts of each song.

The beat on "Gucci Grocery Bag" is one of my favorites on the entire album, yet the lyrics are so horrendous (especially with the LGBTQ slur) that I don't feel like I want to revisit it. The song "Hellcat Kenny" has a pretty solid Young Thug verse but the Lil ... read more
