Magdalena Bay - Nice Day: A Collection of Singles
NR

once again, it's not a proper project (it's only a physical box set and is only released as 8 singles otherwise)
BUT it's a 99, but im not having it rated so it doesn't mess up my ratings of actual projects,

Blu & Exile - Time Heals Everything
85

i just gotta finally listen to the rest of blu’s catalogue. Miles and below the heavens are phenomenal.

Natalia Lafourcade - De Todas las Flores
NR

some of the most beautiful and lush arrangements in any latin jazz music ever - also some of the most consistently beautiful vocal performances you’ll hear in any 2020s album

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
90

mannnnnnnnnn, 2 of some of the best songs of all time with Dance Yrself Clean and You Wanted a Hit - quite literally contains some of the best refrains of all time. The dance-electro-rock fusions across this album are so polished and produced in the most fun, natural and electrifying way possible.

The Fencesitters - Picture Day
79

Just great indie rock, nothing more nothing less. Not insane by any stretch of the word but definitely not uncool or uninteresting - just great lyricism, great playing and great choruses (and some really cool unique ideas that they should lean into more like in flight song)

東京酒吐座 [Tokyo Shoegazer] - Remains
96

Oh my god it’s just so unbelievably consistently fire - just straight meteor showering shoegaze that grazes your ears in the harshest softest fuzziest way possible

Liar, Flower - Ornamental Gardens
88

Apart from having one of the best album covers of all time, we have another psychedelic and rough experience from Katie Jane Garside that just astounds you with her unique vocal and sonic palette. Easily one of my favourite albums of the year stylistically.

KMRU - Kin
96

such a futuristically hazy drone record. One of my favourites of the decade. Reminds me of the miffle album from last year, just in a less nostalgic and more phasing through time type of way

Lianne La Havas - Lianne La Havas
100

A gorgeous, captivating and vocally-cutting album. Beautiful hints of folk and soul throughout Havas's stepping stones detailing her perspectives on her love life. Stunning.

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
88

For a needed follow up to The Melodic Album, the wait was mostly worth it. Baby Keem brings out a more vulnerable side to his eccentric and unique approach to the music that he has released beforehand. He reaches towards the concept of his life being like a casino due to his upbringing in Las Vegas after moving from California as it was deemed safer (which he personally disagrees with). The booman documentaries definitely give a rawer and intimate look into Baby Keem's upbringing. This ... read more

Nourished By Time - The Passionate Ones
98

I haven't listened to Marcus Brown's previous album. However, this first taste of him was one of the best first impressions I've been given by an artist ever. It's a fluid and bubbling mix of bedroom/synth pop and neo-soul to tackle themes of love and work. The Baltimore-based artist has so many infectious vocal lines across the project and he effectively involves himself with his focused and wafting production.

Automatic Love begins with an odd chord exchange and wobbling ... read more

JID - The Forever Story
100

One of the best hip hop albums of all time. So consistently impressive and stellar throughout. This is JID's magnum opus and also the reason he is my favourite rapper of all time. He goes back to his roots (pun unintended) and speaks on family, Atlanta lifestyle, fame and proves himself to be an artist capable of being one of the greatest of all time.

Galaxy is short 52 second intro which is an exemplified and beauteous version of his own intro from the Never Story (of which he actually ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

not my video but I could never explain the album any better.

Huremic - Seeking Darkness
100

This visceral venture into experimental, abrasive post-rock from Mr Parannoul genuinely has to be studied - this insane versatility is more than almost any other artist ever (at this level of quality at least). THIS IS GENUINELY PART OF ONE OF THE GREATEST RUNS OF ALL TIME FULL STOP. THIS IS INSANE. It's also pretty cool how he used the sound engines and instrumentation from the Seoul National University's Arts and Sciences Center.

The South Korean King continues his streak of songs ... read more

Drake - Care Package

good rating rizq.

Against All Logic - 2012 - 2017
100

This wavy and eccentric album is Nicolas Jaar's alias Against All Logic venturing and twisting the threads of house music through tasteful fusions of microbeats, funky guitars, soul, group vocals and insane bass.

This Old House Is All I Have is an inventive collision of soulful guitar leads and chopped vocal samples tucked within this almost shivering drum pattern and waves of DISGUSTING bass. The piano addition to the back end of the track is also a tasteful addition along side the ... read more

Steve Roach - Traveler
76

I do enjoy how ahead of the curve and the remarkably various tones he covers across this album. Certain sonic elements more so fit like a glove that is too big and could potentially grow over time however for the most part the progressive and space ambient qualities are literally quality.
